Mürlenbach is a municipality in the district of Vulkaneifel, in Rhineland-Palatinate, western Germany between two larger towns Gerolstein and Bitburg.
Mürlenbach is on the Kyll River which flows into the Moselle River. Favorite pastimes of the locals include flyfishing and kayaking on the Kyll River and cycling on the newly construced bike path along the Kyll River. Mürlenbach is a popular tourist destination known for its quaint medieval village atmosphere including an original medieval castle nestled in a valley with a river and surrounded by mountains. Charlemagne was born here in a picturesque castle that is in the middle of town on a hill. Internationally known Restauraunter Frau Kathe Gobel also ran the Haupt Bahnhof Gastube during the 1970's and 80's. In it's heyday tourists from as far away as Long Island, New York frequently visited Mürlenbach. A new generation of tourists in the new century have found Mürlenbach to be a delightful destination.
