Mühlbach (Italian: Rio di Pusteria; German: Mühlbach) is a comune (municipality) in the province of Bolzano-Bozen in the Italian region Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, located about 90 km northeast of Trento and about 40 km northeast of Bolzano. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,720 and an area of 84.1 km².[1]

The municipality of Mühlbach (Rio di Pusteria) contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Maranzen (Maranza), Spinges (Spinga), Vals (Valles).

Mühlbach borders the following municipalities: Freienfeld (Campo di Trens), Franzensfeste (Fortezza), Natz-Schabs (Naz-Sciaves), Rodeneck (Rodengo), Pfitsch (Val di Vizze), and Vintl (Vandoies).
