Mêda (pron. IPA['medɐ]) is a city and a municipality in Portugal with a total area of 286.1 km² and a total population of 6,000 inhabitants. The city itself has a population of 2,004.[1]

The municipality is composed of 16 parishes, and is located in the District of Guarda,Region:Centro,Sub Region:Beira Interior Norte.

The present Mayor is João Germano Mourato Leal Pinto, elected by the Social Democratic Party. Main monument:Castle of Marialva/Castelo de Marialva.Also in the municipality:Parque Arqueologico do Vale do Coa,a World Heritage sight. The municipal holiday is November 11.
