Méditerranée

Méditerranée is the name of a département of the First French Empire in present Italy. It was named after the Mediterranean Sea. It was formed in 1808, when Tuscany was annexed by France. Its capital was Livorno. It was divided into the following arrondissements (situation 1812):

It was disbanded after the defeat of Napoleon in 1814. Its territory is presently divided over the Italian provinces Livorno, Pisa, Florence and Siena.
