The Märklin computer interface is one of the components of the Märklin Digital system for controlling model trains.
The interface module was sold under two catalog numbers the 6050 and the 6051 which is the same as the 6050 but comes with the interface cable to connect to the serial port of a computer.
The interface allows for a computer to control the layout by sending commands to control locomotive decoders, set signals, turnouts etc. It could also poll the interface to read back the s88 status in order to detect when trains had arrived at certain places etc.
