Lytchett Minster is a small village in the English county of Dorset. Lytchett Minster is on the A35 road, the main route between the towns of Poole and Dorchester. The settlement is also linked to Upton, the second largest town in the Purbeck local government district, the Upton by-pass route dividing them in-between.
Lytchett Minster forms part of the civil parish of Lytchett Minster and Upton, which in turn forms part of the Purbeck local government district of the county of Dorset. It is within the Mid Dorset and North Poole constituency of the House of Commons and the South West England constituency of the European Parliament.[1]
Lytchett Minster is home to a number of manor houses, one of which now hosts the local Secondary School 'Lytchett Minster School' which suffered fire damage in 2000. Recent development of the school site, including the building of a car park, has resulted in the loss of many healthy trees. These trees were planted by the Lees family, who were the previous owners of the manor in which the school now resides.
