[edit] Clarification

I'm not familiar with the Lynx Express - could someone please clarify the article to say whether it replaced the Coastal Pacific, or if the two trains both ran? (In the latter case, were there two daily services each way between Christchurch and Picton?) - Axver 03:04, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

I think, from memory, that it ran at the same time as the Coastal Pacific - it was intended to be a faster service. I remember getting a whole lot of promotional material about it when NZ Rail launched the Lynx service itself... the information in this article was what I'd removed from the Coastal Pacific article, as an anon editor keeps making random contributions that often are poorly written and not in the correct place. --Lholden 03:06, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
Ah, right. I totally do not recall the Lynx Express, and none of my books make mention of it (though most are pre-1994 either in their printing date or subject matter, so it's not a surprise). I did a bit of a Google search but didn't turn up much except some accident info I'm about to add to the article. And despite the poorly written nature of those anonymous contributions, they do add some pretty good info, so I appreciate them. - Axver 03:56, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
I don't really have any problem with people adding useful information, just when it's badly written and not formatted it annoys me greatly. I had lost all memory of this train until I saw it mentioned in the Coastal Pacific article. BTW, I've added some information on Tranz Rail's fast ferries also. --Lholden 04:29, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
