[edit] Personal life

In 1975, Lynne married Jamie Spears, the father of her three children. She taught grade school in the Spears’ hometown of Kentwood, Louisiana, until Britney, age 11, became a member of the new Mickey Mouse Club for the 1993-1994 season. Biographers of Britney Spears cite Lynne Spears as the main driving force and support behind Britney Spears's early career.

In May 2002, Lynne and Jamie Spears divorced.

Spears allegedly sold the story of her daughter's (Jamie) pregnancy story to OK! for $1 million dollars.[1]

In 2007, Spears lost her older sister, Sandra Bridges Covington, to ovarian cancer.[2]

[edit] Writing career

Spears has co-written two books with her daughter, Britney. The first, Heart to Heart, was published May 9, 2000 and is a biographical book about Britney. The second book, A Mother's Gift, is a novel released April 10, 2001 and has since been adapted to a TV movie, Brave New Girl.

Spears has also written a book on parenting, but, according to People Magazine, its release is delayed indefinitely due to Jamie Lynn Spears's pregnancy.[3]
