Lynn Ahrens

Lynn Ahrens (born October 1, 1948) is an American musical theatre lyricist who most-frequently works with Stephen Flaherty. They are best known for the shows Once on This Island, which was nominated for eight Tony Awards, and Ragtime, which was nominated for twelve Tony Awards and won Best Original Score. They also collaborated on songs for the movie Anastasia. Ms. Ahrens is much beloved for her work writing music and lyrics and performing songs from Schoolhouse Rock and small late '70's/early '80's PSA's on ABC and Captain Kangaroo on CBS.
She is a graduate of Syracuse University. She and Flaherty met at the BMI Workshop in 1982 and started working together in 1983.
