Lynbert R. Johnson (born September 7, 1957, in New York, New York) is an American former professional basketball player. He was selected in the 1979 NBA Draft by the Golden State Warriors, playing nine games for them in the 1979-80 season, averaging 3.0 points and 1.6 rebounds per game. During his tenure at Wichita State University his nickname was 'Cheese'[1] due to his first name sounding like Limburger, a type of cheese. Cheese was All Missouri Valley Conference First Team for three years. A playground legend from New York City and Rucker Park. Cheese attended high school at Haaren in Harlem. He was a top 15 rated player out of high school and attended Wichita State University. Cheese was a crowd favorite at Wichita State where he regularly would score twenty points and grab ten rebounds.
