Lydia Brandner is a fictional character on German daytime soap opera Verbotene Liebe, portrayed by actress Theresa Underberg since January 16, 2008.

Lydia studied in Freiburg and moves now to Düsseldorf, where her parents, Matthias (Thomas Ohrner) and Katja (Diana Frank), together with her younger brother Fabian (Shai Hoffmann) live. She begins to work for the Department of Children's' and Young Peoples' Affairs. Her first order is the case of the young Hannes von Lahnstein, who was kidnapped by her mother Tanja von Anstetten (Miriam Lahnstein) and lives currently at Castle Königsbrunn with his father Ansgar von Lahnstein (Wolfram Grandezka). To know the new town, in their she lives, she goes out with Fabian and Lisa (Lilli Hollunder). At the coffee lounge 'No Limits' she meets Sebastian von Lahnstein (Joscha Kiefer) for the first time and falls deeply in love with him. But then she lerns that Sebastian is Ansgar's cousin and consequently part of her case. She tries to tell him, that they can't never see each other again, but Sebastian, who loves her too, can't stay away from her. He plans a romantic dinner for them and hopes that Lyida will come. Lyida on her way, is attacked by a stranger, but can get out of his power, when Tanja comes to her rescue. Soon later, she finds out, that Tanja is Hannes' mother and she could get in a lot of trouble - or finally get fired. Lydia is also very thankful to Tanja, but Sebastian tries to tell her, that Tanja could be responsible for her attack. She asks Arno (Konrad Krauss) about Tanja and he tells her, that Tanja would go over dead bodies to get what she wants. Meanwhile, Sebastian, who will not give up on her, plans another date. Lydia comes and discovers a big surprise, what ends with a romantic dance.
