Lydd-on-Sea is a modern village, mostly built after WWII, which consists mainly of bungalows built along the Dungeness coastal road south of Greatstone, Kent, England. When the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway was opened in 1927, a railway station was built here, but this has now been closed.
An island in a lake slightly to the north west of Lydd-on-Sea is home to a collection of sound mirrors designed by Dr William Sansome Tucker, to detect the approach of enemy aircraft, in the years before RADAR had been developed.
