- I am not able to understand everything that you are saying. Perhaps you could try typing in french and using a translation program so that I can understand better. I'm sorry that you were not happy with the image or the information credits for it. You could have fixed this yourself though if you wanted. I would try but I am really not sure what you would like me to do. Diliff | (Talk) (Contribs) 08:26, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
- Is the image better now? I have pasted all of the text from the old image to the new image. If you are not happy with it now, you can make changes too. Diliff | (Talk) (Contribs) 11:17, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
- It already is on the commons and always was. See here: [1]. Diliff | (Talk) (Contribs) 11:53, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

Hi, sorry I removed your gallery but we generally try to promote linking to commons galleries now (hopefully more folks will use them there!). The best thing is to place a photo next to relevant text. cheers, Casliber | talk | contribs 10:59, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Vitruvian Man
Hi Luc! I notice you've put two of your pics up on the Leonardo page.. The quality is fantastic, appart from two probs.
- They are both two red, because you've photographed them inside, without flash (the responsible way to do it) and have not adjusted suffficciently for the effect that this has. It makes everything more red.
- When reproducing images for the purpose of writing about art history, artworks are almost always reproduced without their frames. The only exception to this is polyptychs which are set into a large frame designed to hold several panels. And Michelangelo's Doni Tondo, is occasionally shown framed because the frame is probably Michelangelo's own work. A modern frame reproduced as part of an ancient drawing is simply not done. One reason is that it effects the way we view the tonality of the picture.
So, could you please edit both pics and any others that you have like these. I can assure you, that if I had known that the Vitruvian man had been put up for Featured Picture, I would have commented to you that it was much less useful with the frame than without it, and that despite the intense clarity of detail, it needed colour adjustment. I'm one of the major writers (probably the major writer) on general art history topics from Medieval through to High Renaissance, on English wiki. I could really use your pics, if the colour and tonality is right.
With an aim to getting the best possibly quality, I have editted (and uploaded a version of) your Vitruvian man to a better colour. I did this simply be dropping the colour intensity a few notches. The effect was immediately to bring out a lot of subtlety not apparent in your pic. I didn't actually need to do a colour balnce. It was more a matter of intensity. Your pic is coming across more intense than most of the other wiki pictures.
The way you are seeing it could have to do with the adjustment of the monitor. I've fiddled with mine quite a bit to get a good balance. There is also the matter that I am female, and possibly see the colours with finer definition. When I adjusted it a little, lots of colours appeared that had previously bbeen dominated by the red. The fact that all the dirty fingerprints down each side are not simply a darker tone, but also a cooler, slightly bluer colour became apparent. This is what one expects from looking at old manuscripts that have been handled. Can you please take a look at my editted version, with an aim to doing a slight editt to your own. Then we can delete my version.
Apology I spelled your name wrongly! Please forgive me! Amandajm 03:11, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
- Ignore this for a little while. I will do some more experiments with the colour on the version that I have downloaded. Amandajm 09:01, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
-
- He is a little bit dirty in the middle! I think the colour is not evenly distributed. It is pink at the top and bottom , but more grey in the middle. Is there a way to adjust this? My picture is grey in the middle, also! Also, can you take off the black border?
- It is dinner time, here in Australia! But it must be morning in Europe! Good Morning! Are you in France or Belgium? Amandajm 09:46, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Brussels
I see that you are in Brussels! My son and I visited in 2000. We had very good fortune, because the King of Spain was also visiting. So the city performed the Carnival of Brussels for the King, even though it was not the right time in the year. One day, we went to St. Gudule to see the architecture, but the King of Belgium and the King of Spain were looking at the exhibition of tapestries, which were loaned from the Escorial. We were not allowed to take photographs. Your photographs are very beautiful. The facade of St Gudule has very good proportions. Is it medieval, or was it rebuilt in the 19th century? Amandajm 10:00, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you! I was asking about the facade. in particular. I see that it is 15th century. I have to be careful, because when I write about German Cathedrals, many had very great changes in the 19th century, so, for example, the Baroque facade is demolished and replaced with one that is truly German! Or maybe like Cologne Cathedral, completed in 1880. We had a lovely day looking at the Churches, including St Mary of the Sands. And also the Art Nouveau houses. Amandajm 10:43, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Leonardo again
Because there are now two pictures and both have the black frames, it is good. It is better than when only one had the black frame. It is very good to be able to see these works in such fine detail, at full resolution. Amandajm 01:04, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
