Luxembourg Approach Controllers Association

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Luxembourg Approach Controllers Association (LACA) is the Luxembourgian air traffic control and the smallest national air traffic control of Europe.

LACA was founded in 2003 by 9 air traffic controllers. Meanwhile 21 air traffic controllers work at LACA. Its president is Mr Gérard Boby.

According to the control area of Luxembourg's air traffic control one must say that, singularly of Europe, LACA only controls the airport of Luxembourg's capital city (Luxembourg) and the arrival and departure area around it.

The rest is controlled by the Belgian air traffic control, Belgocontrol from 4,500 metres till 8,000 metres and — from 8,000 metres upwards — by EUROCONTROL.

That is why the controllers of LACA only need 2 ATC licences (Tower and Arrival Departure licence).
