Luxembourg were a British five-piece indie band consisting of David Shah (lead singer), Rob Britton (guitar), Alex Potterill (keyboards), David Barnett (bass) and Steve Brummell (drums). They have been likened to Pulp, The Smiths and Roxy Music and have been described as "pop noir".
They released most of their music through their own record label Dogbox Records.

[edit] 2001 - 2006
Born from the ashes of the band Grosvenor, Luxembourg formed in 2001 and began playing extensively around London. During their early stages they issued a number of demo EPs which served to generate a great deal of critical interest in the band, as well as cementing them a loyal fanbase.
They then went on to feature on the first two acclaimed compilations put out by the Angular Recording Corporation, increasing their exposure with significant mentions in the NME and others.
Their debut single proper, "What The Housewives Don't Tell You", was released in mid-2004 and was followed by Best Kept Secret, a compilation featuring rarities and live performances from their first three years as a group, satisfying renewed demand for the now deleted demo EPs.
Following further singles "Luxembourg Versus Great Britain", "We Only Stayed Together For The Kids" and "Sick of DIY" they issued their debut album Front to triumphant reviews in October 2006.
On the 11th of December 2006, bassist Jon Bacon announced he would be leaving the band after their gig on the 16th of December. The split was reportedly entirely amicable, and it is assumed that Jon may be involved in occasional future events, albeit in a different role.

The band named Jon's replacement as David Barnett, ex of The Boyfriends, on 12 March 2007, played a secret gig under the pseudonym The Exhibitionists on 29 March 2007, and made their official comeback at the popular Feeling Gloomy night at London's Bar Academy on 14 April 2007, playing a number of new songs. On 21 May 2007, the first demo recording of a new song, "Kick Me", was made available on the Luxembourg Myspace page, and several live videos of new material were also posted on both YouTube and the band's online fan club, The Bourglar.
Luxembourg had a devoted fanbase that spanned from Ireland to Australia or even Hong Kong but were never signed to a major label.
The band split in early 2008 after releasing for free on Last.fm an uncompleted second album, Last Holiday Before Divorce.
