Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots (LAMP), is a non-profit organization located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It is a cross-cultural ministry sharing Jesus Christ with First Nations people in remote areas of Canada. The organization has been providing spiritual witness and nurture in communities in northern remote areas of Canada for over 35 years, through the ministry of pastor/pilots, and short and long-term volunteers-in-mission. LAMP presently works in 60 communities, teaching Vacation Bible School, youth and adult Bible study, and leading soccer camps in the summer months.

In May 2000, two parts of LAMP split - LAMP US and LAMP Canada when their joint ministry dissolved. From now on, the name 'LAMP' is used exclusively by LAMP-Canada and is no longer be used by LAMP-US. The U.S. organization is now called the Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots U.S. It is a cross-cultural ministry sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ in remote areas of Alaska, Canada and the Olympic Peninsula of Washington state but is a completely separate entity from LAMP.

Both have mention connections with individual Lutheran congregations in Canada and the U.S.
