[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:PattiLPdebut.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:PattiLPdebut.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. -- Carnildo 23:18, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

HI, I UNDERSTAND YOUR STATEMENT PERFECTLY BUT I DON'T BELIEVE THAT SUCH CRITERIA REALLY APPLY TO AN LP COVER. AN LP COVER IS SOMETHING WIDELY EXPOSED IN EVERY KIND OF WEBSITE, I NEVER HEARD OF SOMEONE WHO HAD TO ASK FOR AN AUTHORIZATION TO USE AN LP COVER IMAGE, AND I DOUBT THAT THE ZILLION WIKIPEDIA PAGES SHOWING ALBUM COVERS REQUIRED THAT THE USERS GOT A LICENCE FROM WHOMEVER. PLEASE CHECK THIS OR DELETE ALL ALBUM COVERS FROM ALL MUSIC ARTISTS DISCOGRAPHY PAGES TO DO SOME JUSTICE HERE. (LunarBoy)

An LP cover or other album cover is no less copyrighted than any other work of creative effort. It doesn't matter if it's displayed to the public or not, and widespread copyright infringement doesn't make it any less illegal. --Carnildo 07:11, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
  • Ok, SO YOU WANNA TELL ME THAT EVERYBODY WHO POSTED LP COVERS ON WIKIPEDIA CONTACTED THE RECORD LABEL OR WHATEVER BEFORE POSTING? I HAD ALREADY ASKED YOU ABOUT IT BEFORE WITH NO ANSWER UNTIL NOW. THANKS IN ADVANCE. (LunarBoy)

[edit] Who Is It (Björk song)

Please do not move or rename a page by copying/pasting its content, because doing so destroys the edit history. The GFDL requires acknowledgement of all contributors, and editors continue to hold copyright on their contributions unless they specifically give up this right. Hence it is required that edit histories be preserved for all major contributions until the normal copyright expires. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Merging and moving pages. [edit] Edit summaries

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you. -- dockingmantalk 20:52, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Bombsliza.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Bombsliza.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 03:09, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy Deletion of Hercules and Love Affair

A tag has been placed on Hercules and Love Affair requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Jeodesic (talk) 13:47, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Hercules and Love Affair deleted (please see WP:MUSIC

The article Hercules and Love Affair has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.
