Nova 106.9 protection removal

Remember putting protection on Nova 106.9? It certainly stemmed the regular vandalism; thank you! Today (Friday) user Deli-chick removed that protection. This user has added nonsense to this page (and others) a number of times, and is not an administrator (neither am I, hence writing you this message) and not someone I would assume to be in a position to remove the protection with much authority nor obvious good intention. I have reverted the revision to reinstate protection, but what should be done about this seeming trouble-making user? (I have not added a warning to the user's Talk page this time due to my bringing of this to your attention for advice/assistance.)
Seo75 13:28, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

Nope, still protected -- it's only IP users and new accounts who will be unable to edit. Appreciate the reminder, though, I'll check back at some point. – Luna Santin (talk) 18:25, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, it is still protected now because I reverted the edit by Deli-chick and reinstated the protection – that was the only thing changed in the edit.
Seo75 01:36, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

Pombo

The profile for Camilo Pombo should be investigated because he is a criminal that is not being portayed as the real person that he is. Where is the jail time he has done? I know he served time and by not having that in the profile it's not telling the whole truth about who this man is. I highly suggest removing the whole Wiki entry from the web. Thank you —The preceding unsigned comment was added by BXMrsBrown (talkcontribs) 13 May 2007.

Replied on your talk. – Luna Santin (talk) 20:49, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Hi, sorry to bother you. Sorrygroup in an unblock request indicated a desire to apologize to you on your talk page. I denied the unblock request but told Sorrygroup that I would let you know of his or her intent. So if you are interested he/she may have left you a mesage here. Why did you put !NOSIGN! in your edit summary?
HagermanBot. He will reveal our identities to the media, and ruin everything. He must be stopped.
Well, it hasn't signed any of my comments. Must be its day off.
Then we can roam free, and leave unsigned comments anywhere, free from bot tyranny. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Some bloke (talkcontribs). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Luna Santin (talkcontribs). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Gurch (talkcontribs).
See, this is why IRC is useful. This conversation would have been over in two minutes rather than ten, and without unnecessary inflation of edit counts. Oh well.

OK, I've finished messing with your userpage for today...

Until tomorrow, then! :p

I makred it as speedy because I thought was correct (I was wrong, whoops!), also I DO remember the article being created last week, and deleted as such. Wildthing61476 17:28, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

Oh, whoops. Hadn't noticed we have a bit of a precedent, here. I'll call that WP:CSD#G4, previously deleted under deletion policy, then. Thanks. – Luna Santin (talk) 17:32, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

Heh, thanks. :) I figure persistent problems are just a drain on our resources, whether or not it's necessarily the same person (which is a bit of a moot point, since blocks are preventive in nature, anyway...). Keep up the good work, yourself! – Luna Santin (talk) 18:59, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

I appreciate your formatting the second WP:RFCU request I made. This time I think I figured out how the set up procedure works so it shouldn't be necessary next time. (Shouldn't being the key word, pody's nerfect after all :) Thank you again, Anynobody 22:31, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

Glad to be of any help. We realized after awhile that it's a bit complicated, and having clerks seemed more practical (and realistic) than expecting everybody to magically figure out the mish-mash of templates and subpages. :) – Luna Santin (talk) 22:54, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

SouthAtom.

As you were the blocking administrator, would you mind deleting that vandal's talk page? It's a pointless talk page. I created it when I gave them a warning and didn't realize that you had already indefinitely blocked the vandal. Acalamari 23:28, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

Sure thing. Done. I do like to assume good faith, but in this case I think we can pretty safely conclude othterwise. :) – Luna Santin (talk) 23:30, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
Thanks. I think the vandal you blocked was a sockpuppet of the vandal who keeps adding medical images to Natalie Erin's user page. Acalamari 23:31, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

Hello

Can I ask you a question? Nothing personal but what orgin are you? The word Luna is a spanish word for Moon so I am assuming you are Latino. I have no clue of what Santin means. Is that your name? King Lopez Contribs 02:36, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

A fair number of people ask if I'm Spanish. Since I go by "Luna-San" on IRC, people also ask if I'm Japanese (or trying to be). Those are all good guesses, but really I'm pretty boring: a European mutt in terms of pedigree, born and raised in California. I do have a good number of Latino and Asian friends, though, so they're probably rubbing off on me a bit. As far as the name, the "Santin" bit has been with me longer than I can remember, although with different attachments. I was goodysantin for awhile, then Basil Santin, and by the time I hit Wikipedia, I'd been used to the Luna Santin name for a few years. You are right on the money about "Luna," though. :) – Luna Santin (talk) 02:51, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
So it's just a meaningless random name? Like "Gurch"... though I'm sticking with the Japanese theory, as it explains the excessive use of <_< faces. You're not really a European mutt, anyway – Gurch 21:50, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

Vandal again?

We've been seeing a lot of vandalism to User:Eternal Pink again, mostly from SPAs, and there's been occasional vandalism from 81.* to Sailor Moon articles as well. It's much more subtle than before, but it seems like it's probably related. What can we do? --Masamage 17:44, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

Dodge it cool

Thanks for deleting my page on our local dodgeball team as I was editing it. I'm a Wiki newbie and was in the process of trying to make it worthy of notability or whatever it is Wiki told me to do. Thanks. Twat. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Matt A C (talkcontribs) 16 May 2007.

I'm sure you enjoy the team, and I'm glad for that, but Wikipedia's mission doesn't actually include keeping track of every local sports team -- you may want to see what Wikipedia is not. – Luna Santin (talk) 22:21, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

Oh right. But if people from my local area want to read about their local team? Or teams from our league? Or avid players? Or teams from other leagues? Actually, it's late at night, I'm tired and the more I type the more I want to go to sleep. Just have fun being a jobsworth, you seem quite good at it.

I'll happily give you a copy of the deleted content, if you need it for posting to another website. As it is, now, though, you can hear this from me, or press for a full AfD discussion process, where you'll hear pretty much the same thing from people who will probably be even less nice about it. I mean no offense, but the article you're posting really doesn't seem to fit inside our inclusion criteria. – Luna Santin (talk) 22:36, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

A Vandal's Returned

You may recall a while ago that an anonymous user repeatedly vandalized the page Southwood Secondary School, and then created several accounts in an attempt to impersonate me. I believe that this person has returned, under the account User Talk:Wendel67. While some of his edits to other pages (Pokemon (anime) and Chobits among them) appear to be good faith, I feel it's worth noting that the user's first vandalism edit to Southwood was to add "Jamal Aburaneh - Actor, (Little Mosque on the Prarie) which is what the incident last time stemmed from. This user also seems to have something against me personally, as seen by his comments made on several article talk pages (Talk:Southwood Secondary School and Talk:Heaven (Bryan Adams song)). I am going through the vandalism warning templates and will report to WP:AIV once I have gone through them all, but I figured that I should bring this to your attention. MelicansMatkin 23:23, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

Hello. I don't appreciate being labeled a vandal. I am a former student that still lives in the area around Southwood Secondary School, and I heard that Jamal was an actor on that program. Leave it off if you don't think it's true; I don't really care - I'm not about to break my back searching for proof. I do, however, care when someone such as yourself contacts administrators with the entirely unfounded accustation of me impersonating you. Don't flatter yourself. You say some of my edits appear in good faith? They are ALL made in good faith. Should I paste vandalism templates on your user page for every edit that you make in haste? ie: mindlessly reverting my constuctive edits on U2's "Acrobat" and Bryan Adams' "Heaven". And another thing - why do you seem to keep track of, and revert all the edits that I make? It seems like YOU are the one that has the problem with me. The comments I left on those article talk pages were to communicate directly with you the reasons that your reverts weren't warranted. Hopefully in the future when you are secretly watching all edits that I make, you will stop and think for a moment before reverting my grammatical corrections or constructive additions. Thanks. More discreet s-protect for Berlin, please!

Hi Luna Santin! I´ve noticed your s-protection for the article Berlin and Frankfurt. That is much appreciated. Could you consider to install a protection without the banner on top of the article? Like the USA article for instance? Many thanks in advance Lear 21 23:38, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

In the case of United States, the article is protected indefinitely -- generally speaking, the "small" templates are preferred in long-term protection cases. Berlin and Frankfurt are both protected for one week only. That said, you're welcome to change the templates yourself, or to seek a second opinion. – Luna Santin (talk) 05:33, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

block issue

Hi - Zackfins54 is back making that same incorrect edit repeatedly to Barbara Walters as he/she did as Cantwaitforit - I thought the account was blocked? Can you handle this or is there something else I should do? Thanks Tvoz |talk 19:26, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

I would like you to know that I'm not the same person as Cantwaitforit. That is my sister's username and she went on a spree of fake edits last week, so our IP Address was blocked because we use the same computers. I do apologize for her vandalism, however, I stand behind all edits made under this username. I don't believe that Barbara Walters was born in 1929. There are just as many, actually more sources that cite her birth as 1931 rather than 1929. I just wanted to state my side of the case since somebody is trying to get me blocked. Again, I am sorry that my sister was abusing her account. I have told her to stay off wikipedia. There should be no more trouble from her. I think if you look at the edits that I have made under this username, they are all within reason. In regards to Barbara Walters, I even supplied a link that shows her birthyear as 1931. Thank you. Zackfins54 19:40, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

See my reply to you on my talk page momentarily. The edits you have made to Barbara Walters, however, are not within reason at all - they are incorrect edit warring, and they are exactly the same incorrect edits that Cantwaitforit made repeatedly before being blocked for vandalism. Shut-off button

Hey there, ever since I first saw a shut-off button on some bot page, I wanted to create one for my own user page. Now I stumbled over your page and realised that you somehow managed to do it. It never seemed to work at my page. I have moved my current attempt to User:AldeBaer/soapbox. I'd be grateful for any advice on how to get this to function. —AldeBaer 08:25, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Nevermind, I've worked it out. —AldeBaer 15:21, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, Imagemap is a bit of a tricky extension. If you're looking for the link to cover the whole image, there's no harm in having your pixel settings overshoot the image boundaries (could use 1000 instead of 100; as I understand, it's measuring the dimensions of the rectangle in pixels, so if you go "over," the edges will stop at the edge of the image, anyway). – Luna Santin (talk) 20:09, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
I started with the mistake of keeping the boundaries at 100, although using a different, larger image. Somehow, the link was not working until I set the link boundaries to the size of the original image and it worked. —AldeBaer 23:51, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Protection

Hello. I'd like you to tell me exactly how you came to the decision to protect the template {{Northern Ireland cities}} if you would. Thanks. --Mal 15:17, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Ooh ooh ooh! I think I know this! (I know you asked Luna, but can I answer?) *ahem* Because at least 5 different editors had been edit-warring on the template space, and only two of them (both from the same side) even tried to discuss the problem on that template's talk page. And, this way, anyone who wants to change the template will be forced to actually discuss and cooperate. (did I get it?) Bladestorm 15:28, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
Do you mind keeping your condescending, patronising gob shut please? Thanks all the same. You remark about "the same side" is curious, by the way. --Mal 20:39, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
That sounds like an excellent explanation, yes. I noticed the edit war in the course of recent changes patrolling, which a quick glance at my contribs will confirm I do pretty regularly. – Luna Santin (talk) 20:05, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Additional sock puppets after a check user request

Can you explain to me how to get additional sock puppets checked after one check user request? All it offers me is the same form, then catalogues it in the completed request section where it has been ignored. There is no explanation anywhere on the page how to do this just repeated warnings not to mess up. I posted on the talk page a question, but it too has been ignored. The additional sock puppets for User:Brya still need checked. Someone showed me an example on the help desk of a repeated request, but it was added to after being archived. I requested someone archive the Brya one, but only the ones around it were archives, by you. This is very frustrating from a user standpoint that the instructions are only written for people who already know how to do it, and all questions are ignored. Can you tell me how I am supposed to list additional sock puppets after the initial request? And can you add this information to the Check user project page for other users?[1] KP Botany 18:07, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

If I'm reading this correctly, you listed two additional sockpuppets at the bottom of Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Brya (which is the thing to do -- if the check has been archived, a new check request goes at the top of the same page; if it hasn't been archived, yet, the new users should be listed below the current CU response... I'll see if I can figure out a good way to make that more obvious). As for the completed/pending issue, clerks should generally keep on top of that for you. In this particular case, it looks like Jpgordon has already checked the two users you listed. Am I missing anything else? – Luna Santin (talk) 03:26, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
Well, it doesn't say confirmed or anything. I don't know--it's a bit hard to follow. I'll ask him. User:Hailtothejews! isn't bothering me--I had missed his/her user name the first time, and I think that irritated him/her, but now that I realize it's just one of our younger culture-lover-promorers promoting his Jewish heritage, which I failed to acknowledge, I'm not having any problems with it. Also he/she seems to want to discuss botany (weeds), so I'm down with that. KP Botany 20:45, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
Heh, sure thing. Just from hanging around a lot, Jpg is using the sort of language that seems to imply he checked, but if you wanted to run that past him and be sure, no problem. – Luna Santin (talk) 20:49, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, upon rereading, I see you are correct, it sounds like he checked and found the one more--an obvious one, but I was only on the first page of the sock puppet reverts, as another user did most of the reverting. I'm still impressed with how it worked, as all the sock puppets identified, in spite of the en-list comments, were clear and abvious socks engaged only in the type of problematic edits that had the whole community up in a ruckus about this editor in the first place. Nothing subtle, only one lame attempt to hide his/her identity, the same edits, same abusive language towards other editors. Another editor, without identifying that various sock puppets, had meticulously and politely corrected most of the problematic edits as soon as they came up, again, impressive use of group editing. KP Botany 21:09, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Hi. I need your help.

Or the help from any administrator, if possible. If you were to go to the articles of most heavy metal bands, ie, Dimmu Borgir, Behemoth , you will find that someone has somehow inserted this image as the logo for that particular band, under different names. Could you please delete those images? Thank you. Bopash4 12:06, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

Looked around a bit, and I'm afraid I haven't been able to find the images you mentioned. Could you link a few examples, if this is still a problem? Thanks. – Luna Santin (talk) 02:05, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Oh its ok, someone had removed that nonsensical image! I was just surprised to see the same image on almost EVERY article related to metal. Thanks anyway!:D Bopash4 06:44, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

--Bruttafemmina 21:05, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

I have no idea. Since you're asking me, I can only assume that you've been autoblocked due to a block I set -- when one account is blocked, the IP address it uses will also be blocked. If you're connecting to the web through a shared IP address or proxy server, as is used by numerous internet service providers, colleges and universities, libraries, and other institutions around the world, the autoblock may have nothing to do with anything you've done. I will be unable to answer any questions without more specific information. – Luna Santin (talk) 02:07, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

no, you have got it all wrong bello. I am asking you can you spot what is wrong with this username? theres nothing you see thats wrong brutto? --Bruttafemmina 23:12, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

RFCU

Thanks. I'm also having trouble getting the listing to show up on the request page, not sure why. - Crockspot 03:00, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Of course. The exact problem is a bit complicated -- it's got to do with page transclusion and the <noinclude> tags included in the checkuser archive templates. If you purge the page cache, it should look okay for now. – Luna Santin (talk) 03:02, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Good work

Date vandal

Hi Luna. I see you blocked User:Daisiesarepretty for random date changes. I wonder if you can help again because it looks to me like the vandal is still around but this time using IP addresses 64.61.4.26 and 68.161.59.97, and possibly User:Weather72787. I'm suggesting Weather72787 is a possible because of this curious edit plus this one, but it could be a coincidence. Would a checkuser on this user be in order?. Anyway, are you willing to block the to IP addresses? Thanks, A bit iffy 20:48, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Oops -- looked at this, the other day, but forgot to reply. I'm not sure if those are the same person, but it may be worth keeping an eye on. Since I do a fair amount of clerking at WP:RFCU, I should probably avoid commenting on the merits of a particular check, but it's worth pointing out that the worst that can happen is the request gets declined and archived. If you want to get a second opinion from anybody, or if something else crops up that you think I should see, feel free. – Luna Santin (talk) 22:56, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Who is Kate McAuliffe?

I've found many inappropriate usernames in Misza13's block log containing the name above mentioned. Do you know who is that? There were so many names saying that "<name> is going out with Kate McAuliffe" and so on. I have no idea what was going on. --Edmundkh 16:29, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

I know about some about it, yes. It's an older vandal meme -- anybody who matches the username/spamming pattern should probably be blocked on sight, if they're still around. If you needed more details, I believe Misza or maybe Pgk might be able to shed a bit more light on it, I seem to recall they dealt with it somewhat regularly. – Luna Santin (talk) 21:37, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

I wanna be in the battle too!

Hullo I am a reformed vandaliser and would like to help in the battle against vandalism if you could tell me how it would be great, a fellow soldier, Ranger1524Ranger1524 00:45, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Well, you can get quite a lot of helpful information at pages like Wikipedia:Vandalism, and especially Wikipedia:Recent changes patrol. Depending on your particular browser/preferences/etc., there's a lot of tools from Twinkle to VandalProof to help you along. – Luna Santin (talk) 00:55, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Luna I posted something about 20 mins ago, I cant figure out how to become an RC patroller or whatever it is called, or how to spot vandalism i read the pages too. A fellow soldier--Ranger1524 01:01, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
In general, we can look at Special:Recentchanges and watch for trouble. There are tools like VandalProof, Lupin's tool, and any number of other things which make it easier to find these problems, and other tools to help us revert and report as needed. You don't need to understand everything, all at once -- there's plenty of work to be done, and even just fixing the vandalism you encounter in the course of any usual reading or editing you'd normally do is appreciated. I'd recommend finding something you think you can do, and learning as you go, from there. – Luna Santin (talk) 02:13, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Im not sure

Im not sure if users can have offensive language on their own page as the user:badboy does, he states "I smell like @%#$" Is this allowed im not sure as it MIGHT be my first bust--Ranger1524 02:23, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

AIV case

Hi Luna, regarding the anon IP user 159.190.251.62 whom I posted a report about on AIV, a number of their edits are certainly vandalism, while others are more ambiguous. You were unsure about this edit which was a deletion but take a look at this one. Kate Moss's mother's name is not Golda Yufelbaum (a Holocaust refugee) it's Linda Moss according to a couple of news stories I found on google. This user vandalizes in a slightly more subtle way (for example listing out a ton of women Mick Jagger has been "linked to" here without providing any evidence) but I think that's all the more reason to block them again. They are making damaging changes that might not get noticed, so I'm hoping you might reconsider your decision not to block. Thanks! (Note, I'm going offline in a few minutes and might not be able to reply to a message for awhile.)--Bigtimepeace | talk | contribs 10:05, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

Hello + Stroke order

Hello,

I noticed your warning, and thanks for your work (your time), second point : I'm not truly upset. I have about 15.000 edits on all the wikis, and I'm almost familiar with such unproductive and sad situations (I'm admin in wiki-fr and commons - Exploding boy don't know this 3 points).

I was lead to act in this way because other means have fail. Exploding boy hastily revert policy + minor comment lead me in wide lost of time, explaining all my rewriting policy. It appear that he is too hastily, and all my explanations were useless.

Since, I want mirror his revert policy, to show him what that do.

If you read the "square" that I want to do with my div, you can have my version of the story.

From what I know, users can use such images in the talk page of French articles, and I don't think it's fair to block me and the reason "use an image that Exploding boy don't want see, and don't accept Exploding boy reverts".

A proposition I can make to you :

  • block the stroke order article for one week ;
  • block me for one day ;
  • block Exploding boy for one day ;

This on the reason of "edition war and unproductive/upset endless talks". But the week of unproductive involvement on my side lead, and Nlu opinion that he had not knowledge to judge the opposition, lead me to think that I have no other way that mirror this revert policy. --Yug (talk) 22:05, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

I also encourage you to read this User_talk:Exploding_Boy#Strategy_n⁰2 (talks after I announced my new mirror strategy) --Yug (talk) 22:09, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

Just to be clear here, I haven't asked for anyone to be blocked, and I don't think the Stroke order article needs protection. All that is needed is for Yug to discuss his proposed changes on the talk page before making them. That will allow us to clarify what he wants to say, and to write it in good English before putting it on the page, making editing easier for everyone. Exploding Boy 22:12, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

Hey, there, both of you. Hoping I can get out of this without blocking anybody. ;) I'm still reading up on this (diffs and talk pages), but it seems like you're trying to contribute, and Exploding Boy is having problems with your writing style -- your English is quite good, really, better than I can manage in any of the few other languages I know, but it'll still be different from the sort of "professional" writing the rest of the encyclopedia will be using. If I'm understanding this correctly (I might not be), then it might be good if the two of you can work on changes at some other page, before putting them in at Stroke order -- a little proofreading can do a lot, in these situations. Say, Talk:Stroke order or Talk:Stroke order/temp or anything like that, could be a great sandbox. Great content can come from a lot of places; when I've worked with a few non-native speakers, I've found it helpful to see what they say, then rewrite some of it, just to add a little polish. I'm hoping that'll work, here. – Luna Santin (talk) 22:15, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
I already have this : user:Yug/Stroke order. Yes, this need more spelling involvement from a native English speaker. But nobody came. After one week, I copy-pasted it into Stroke order. Yug (talk) 22:21, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
Ah, good. EB, does that work for you? – Luna Santin (talk) 22:23, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
For my level of english, I know it is ...correctable. Correct one section of what I wrote need about 10 minutes.
I'm restoring the div, I you want block me, do so. Notice that I was not lead to this point without reason. Yug (talk) 22:21, 11 June 2007 (UTC) [I still encourage to block both of us 24 hours]
*sigh* Alright, then. See you in 24 hours. Let's hope we can work this out, after that. – Luna Santin (talk) 22:32, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

Stroke order, again

Yug appears to have restored the image or template he was blocked for repeatedly inserting: talk:Stroke order. Exploding Boy 16:45, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

The div is back, but without the image -- it's significantly less disruptive, that way, even if it may not be ideal. I'd suggest you try and work with him. – Luna Santin (talk) 20:48, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

But it still is disruptive, and its unnecessary. I'm not asking for the content, offensive as it is, to be removed, only the brightly-coloured box around it. Yug's obviously pushing the boundaries; it needs to be removed. Exploding Boy 22:23, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

Pushing the boundaries, yes, but not as far as he was before being blocked -- he's made a concession, as I see it. At this point, I don't see any tangible reason the two of you can't cooperate, if you both put some effort into working together. If that changes, so be it, but I would like to see some effort put towards resolving this, first. – Luna Santin (talk) 22:27, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

I don't really see how, as long as this disruptive behaviour continues. Frankly, I find the content of that box fairly inappropriate; with the box around it, it's disruptive, clearly assumes bad faith, and is unnecessarily highlighted. If you won't remove it and warn Yug, I will. But I'm neither willing to engage in an edit war, nor to discuss anything with the user unless he stops being so obviously disruptive.

Note also that pretty much as soon as his block for repeatedly inserting (most of) that template/image into the talk page expired, he reinserted most of it, and reverted the article.

At issue here is the fact that Yug's written English just isn't that great. I've asked him repeatedly to discuss proposed changes on the article's talk page so that other editors can confirm his intended meaning and correct his English before he changes the article, but he's so far refused. His one concession today was to place a "spelling" tag on the article; spelling, however, is basically a non-issue. The problem is simply that his English is ungrammatical and confusing. I'm all for having non-native speakers edit the English Wikipedia, but only as long as they don't end up just making editing and maintaining articles much more difficult for other editors. Exploding Boy 23:44, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

Yug appears to have made a working sandbox at User:Yug/Stroke order -- by all appearances, you haven't edited it, despite his invitation. Is there a reason for this? – Luna Santin (talk) 23:59, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

Yes. First, I only really became aware of it yesterday. Second, I didn't want to make any edits to that article while he was blocked. And third, I don't really want to discuss anything with him until the disruptive behaviour stops. I certainly wasn't going to get involved in an edit conflict during his multiple edits to my talk page yesterday. Exploding Boy 00:06, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

And fourth, I think it would be better to discuss changes on the article's talk page, or at very least a subpage of the talk page, where all interested editors can participate. Exploding Boy 00:10, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
Fair enough. I've left him a note to that effect, hopefully he'll take that into consideration. It really seems like this should be an easy enough impasse for the two of you to get past. – Luna Santin (talk) 00:30, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
EB, you continue to add false informations, in example see :
When I put into effect the last, on june 2nd, I comment : "(Huge re-writing-merging, according to User:Yug/Stroke order. Informations deleted have been merge into the new version, or move toward new articles.)", and you was perfectly able to take a look on the talk page Talk:Stroke_order#Soon rewriting, where I said the CJK strokes section was move to => CJK strokes.
But on june 5, you reverted, and commented : "(Restore large amount of mysteriously removed information.)"
"Mysteriously" !? So you didn't seen the talk page, and you didn't see my comment, but you reverted... O.ô. Woohh.... English administrators are really powerful : they are allow to revert without understand the change made !
Now you say "[for the user:yug/Stroke order] I only really became aware of it yesterday".
If I understand well, we now have only 2 solutions :
  1. you didn't read my comments and the talk page, but reverted me = unfair revert.
  2. you did read my comment and the talk page, so you perfectly knew that I asked help on user:yug/Stroke order = bad faith.
In one word : you have now to face with what you did hastily, when nobody was watching.
You are a skilled user, but your behavior was not acceptable from an administrator. --Yug (talk) 15:32, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Renaming user

Hi Luna,

I saw your name on the list of people who could help with username changes. I'm new to Wikipedia and I'd like to change my username slightly, but I don't understand how to add my request to the bottom of the WP:RENAME page. Specifically I'm referring to:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:RENAME

Except for wondering if the four ~s are really needed after the subst:Renameuser statement, I don't have any problems with copying, pasting, editing the statement, all that - I have a programming background. I just don't see a place to put my request, as there is no link at the bottom of the WP:RENAME page, after Current requests, that says "click here to add your request". I thought that maybe you're supposed to just edit the whole WP:RENAME page (using the "edit this page" link on top) and scroll down in the edit window and copy and paste your request at the bottom, but I'm afraid that I might be terribly wrong in that guess, and break some etiquette rule.

In short, I have two questions: 1) Are the four tildes after the subst:Renameuser statement necessary? 2) How do I open up a place at the bottom of the WP:RENAME page to add my request?

If I'm sending this to the wrong page (I'm really a newbie), sorry...

Thanks, Arensons 17:36, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

P.S. I just figured out that the four tildes insert my username... so I guess they are necessary after the subst:Renameuser statement.

Hi Luna,
I don't need help anymore. I seem to have entered my request in a way that it shows up properly.
Thanks, Arensons 19:43, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

Can you please semi-protect Talk:Movement to impeach George W. Bush? AOL IP's are vandalizing it. The article was semi-protected for this reason too. Thank you. Momusufan 21:01, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

Just did, actually. :) For a week, hopefully this doesn't cause too many problems. I'll rummage around and find the right template for this situation. – Luna Santin (talk) 21:02, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

Camilo Pombo

Hello Luna Satin,

I am outraged by the commentaries posted by “BXMrsBrown.” For whatever reason this person is in a mission to hurt Camilo Pombo.

For your information, I worked for Pombo for a couple of years, and even if I never liked him, I have to admit that he is a very correct professional. Last year I went to Spain on vacation and took the opportunity to check him out. What I found is that he is an amazingly appreciated person in that country. His family and he are well known and respected. To me it was an enlightening moment, because to be honest I was hoping to find something dirty about him and I couldn’t. Possibly his arrogance comes from been an obnoxious blueblood with many nobility titles and loads of money, I don’t know, but honest the man is. It is true that he was in jail many times. For what I understand, in different countries when he was a reporter but none of these times was because of any crime, it was because of his work. I will never like his personality, but I would never dare to accuse him of any wrong doing.

Yug, yet again

I'm now asking you to block this user. He has yet again restored the item on the talk:stroke order page. This situation is untenable. I'm unable to undertake any discussion with him until he ceases this disruptive behaviour. Exploding Boy 18:14, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Since you don't appear to be here right now, I'm placing another message on the Admin notice board. Exploding Boy 18:16, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
Alright, honestly, it's a blue line. It's not stopping you from doing anything. The two of you should be quite capable of talking to each other, but neither of you is willing to just ignore this completely immaterial issue of a tiny blue line -- Yug insists on having it, you insist on getting rid of it, and in the meantime the entire issue grinds to a halt because people can't stop arguing over the presence or absence of one blue line that's only a pixel wide. The line is not important, I don't see why it matters if it's removed; the line does nothing, I don't see why it matters if it stays. In short, the line does not matter, it is only a line. Both of you need to get over yourselves. – Luna Santin (talk) 19:27, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

It's not just a blue line. But if you'd like to end your involvement in this, it's obviously for the best. Exploding Boy 19:42, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Then what else is there? – Luna Santin (talk) 19:43, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

It's a large text box that is clearly designed to look like a warning template. The outside line is blue, yes, but the inside is also blue, unlike the page background, which is a kind of creamy colour. The net effect is to make the text stand out and appear as a user warning, which it isn't. It is not standard practice to place such templates or images on article talk pages. They are used when admins are placing warnings on user talk pages. Yug's made his point; his behaviour in persisting in reinstering the majority of the template (minus only the stop hand image) is clearly disruptive, besides being totally unnecessary. I see his content; so does everyone else. There's no reason to highlight it by placing it inside a brightly-coloured box. Exploding Boy 19:52, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

So it's a blue line with a slightly blue background. I agree, it is completely unnecessary. I fail to see, however, why this has become the primary point of contention -- it has zero effect on the dispute as a whole. As I see it, you're both letting pride get in the way of possible resolutions. Since you're the one talking to me, at the moment, it may seem this feeling is directed solely at you, but that's not the case; it takes two to squabble. – Luna Santin (talk) 19:57, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Look, if you don't want to be involved any more, that's fine. I've explained the problem several times. Yug is being disruptive; it's as simple as that. I'm really not willing to discuss anything with him until his disruptive behaviour stops. So far he's ignored repeated requests to that effect from me, plus at least three from you. He's restored that template at least 6 times, once after a warning from an admin (I'm an admin too, but not acting as one in this instance), and twice after being blocked for restoring it. In addition, he's also reverted changes to the article, despite repeated requests from me and from you to discuss proposed changes before making them. I'm not even complaining about the contents of the box, which is at least bordering on offensive in several parts. I'm willing to work with the guy. I'm not, however, willing to validate the hissy fit he's having at present, nor his disruptive behaviour. Exploding Boy 20:19, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

He's having a hissy fit because he doesn't think you're willing to work with him. You're not willing to work with him because he's having a hissy fit. If one of you just gets past this and acts, in good faith, to resolve the conflict, I anticipate things will improve rapidly. – Luna Santin (talk) 20:25, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

I've made it clear repeatedly that I'm willing to work with him. How many times, and in how many places, do I have to say it? For the last time: I'm willing to work wth Yug, if he ceases his inappropriate and disruptive behaviour. Yug, on the other hand, has made it clear in statement and in practice that he's going to revert on sight, insist on not discussing changes before making them, and more or less behave inappropriately. Allowing him to continue his behaviour is not acting in good faith. It's tolerating increasingly disruptive behaviour by a user who, it should be noted, is himself an admin (albeit on a different Wikipedia) and should therefore know better. Exploding Boy 20:38, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Oh, the both of you have certainly said up and down the street that you're both quite willing to work together -- the test is in actually doing it. Which one of you will step up to the plate, first? – Luna Santin (talk) 21:00, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Ok, well, this isn't productive. If you don't want to be involved further, that's fine. I'm not going to continue going back and forth like this. Exploding Boy 21:02, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Blank protected page

You protected User talk:Bobby de Montparnasse. Can you also go ahead and blank it, too? It's clearly inflammatory and an unacceptable use of an editor's Talk page. Thanks! --ElKevbo 22:15, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Other option, I'll delete and transclude it on a cascade-protected page. Draws less attention, that way. – Luna Santin (talk) 22:21, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks so much! --ElKevbo 00:16, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

Rihannabox.jpg

Luna Santin, you deleted this page earlier, according to the log, and it seems the original uploader has uploaded it again. As you were the deleting administrator, I thought you should know. In fact, the uploader has continually added this image and other unsourced images back into articles, and continues to upload images with no tags or sources. Shouldn't this user also be blocked for disruption? Acalamari 22:16, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Left a "friendly" note. A lot of people don't understand the gravity of image copyright, or how seriously Wikipedia takes it, in particular. – Luna Santin (talk) 22:20, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for deleting it. That's the second time I've asked that user to stop, so thank you for your input. ShadowHalo has also been leaving messages about the images, and as you saw, that talk page is filled with warnings about images. Acalamari 22:23, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, wowzers. :p That is a lot of them. I'll see if I can keep an eye on this one, but let me know if I miss something. – Luna Santin (talk) 22:23, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
  • Hello Luna Santin, I don't know when you'll see this, but the user just re-uploaded the image and re-added it to the article. I've given them another message and tagged the image for deletion but I doubt it'll do any good. Acalamari 03:27, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
Well, if that's how it'll have to be. Blocked for 24 hours. – Luna Santin (talk) 04:26, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks again. Acalamari 16:17, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

Need volunteers

Hello,

In order to get out of the current endless situation :

  • I kept the div, but I removed myself the blue background from my div.
  • I need a new administrator watching the Stroke order article and its talk page,

The task will be to revert me if I add bad English, but also to revert EB if he continue to delete my 1px blue div.

I think this way of a new team will be more efficient. The other way is to try an gentlemen agreement with EB, which seems less possible today than ever (or only after endless talk, RfC, Arbitration Committee).

I also asked for volunteers helping my English on Stroke order/Temp, and your help is welcome, but for an Administrator replacing EB in watching this two pages, I would be happy if it's you.

(A bigger proposition was made on Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#User:Yug, again)

Let me know if it possible. --Yug (talk) 13:37, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

While there's absolutely no need at all to put a box around your comments on a talk page (that's not standard here on En.Wikipdia, and I'm willing to bet it's not on Fr.Wikipedia either) and I would still prefer that you removed the border completely, now that you've removed the background it's far less noticeable. I'm willing to work with this albeit less than perfect situation, however I still believe that you deserve a second, longer block for your disruptive behaviour, and that you should know better as an admin yourself.
I'm glad to see that you have finally accepted that reverting your bad English is nessecary. As I've been saying all along: please discuss your proposed changes before making them in the article.
By the way, I'm not "watching the page" as an admin. I'm participating in editing the article. Or at least, if you've accepted that your changes need discussing before you make them, that's what I'll be doing. Exploding Boy 15:39, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
I agree, Exploding Boy has actually shown quite a bit of restraint, here -- he's trying to act in good faith, and I think he just wants some assurance that you are, as well. While I do appreciate the background change, Yug, you and I both know that he finds the entire box bothersome -- will it satisfy the two of you if there's some agreement to avoid using any such boxes, in the future? It really seems more productive to get on with working on the sandbox, instead of squabbling over whether the line stays or goes. I could edit the sandbox, if both of you want me to do so, but for the time being, it seems that might compromise any sense of neutrality I have. Thoughts? – Luna Santin (talk) 23:57, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

I just don't know, Luna. First, from looking at the history of Talk:Stroke order, it appears that Yug left a weird "anonymous" post calling both himself and me "childish" and "proud." Then, he left another post accusing me of trying to drive him away. He also appears to be maintaining a page all about me, in apparent preparation for... Something. I don't quite know what. None of this strikes me particularly as "good faith." In addition, he keeps trying to goad me into RFCs and has also made it clear that discussion is essentially a formality, and he's going to go ahead and do what he "plans" anyway. Not just all those things, but in this post on the French Wikipedia, he states that he's "already rewriting the English article 'Stroke order,' in spite of Exploding Boy and his reverts." It's all a bit surreal, frankly. Exploding Boy 04:00, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Hm... that does seem odd. Keeping "evidence" pages on other editors is rarely an indication of good faith, in my humble opinion -- especially since he appears to be preparing some sort of arbitration(?), over what seems to be a minor brush up. The comment on Fr might be something to look into -- I can tell he's mentioning you, but I don't know enough French to say more than that conclusively, I'm afraid. If it's any consolation, it appears the folks on fr.wikipedia are very fond of boxes and such, on their talk pages, so maybe that's where he picked up the habit. Were I in your shoes, here (I admit I'm not), I might make a few edits to Talk:Stroke order/Temp -- if he is acting in good faith, it helps the issue along, and if he's not, people won't be able to say you didn't try (either way, if the main problem is his syntax and such, and he's providing otherwise-good content, it might be the way to go; again, just my opinion). But I tend to work by giving people "enough rope," if you catch my drift. I'll try and keep an eye on this, either way; unfortunately, I'll be out for a good chunk of the weekend, so if you need some administrative action, probably best to head straight to WP:AN or WP:AN/I and let me know later, if you like. – Luna Santin (talk) 06:14, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
The problem has been exacerbated by the fact that another user has since jumped in and made major changes (most of which I actually agree with) to the main article. This is a good thing, from my perspective, since it's ended the impasse. On his talk page, Yug tells this user that he doesn't agree with some of the changes, and plans to "revert" them when he has time. Yug is continuing to work on his Talk:Stroke order/Temp page completely alone, while the rest of us are having discussions on the talk page. As well, I've just discovered that Yug is continuing to make rather insulting edits to the Talk:Stroke order page. I've more or less stopped communicating with him, though I'm going to be forced to respond to some of his comments on the Stroke order talk page. Exploding Boy 15:19, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
O.ô... I said I didn't agree with "the deletion of some sentences"....
And yes : I reverted him on Stroke order : see the difference (--!> corrected into -->) which restore the section about Cursive.
I didn't insulted, In reaction of you previous acid comment, I put again into light the fact that you made several mistakes, which you not really like.
Good bye every one, I have a true life, and I will come back in 7 days.

Magnetic Monopoles

Dear Luna,

All the available theories and comments on the subject suggest that monopole magnets do not exist for normal size elements.

I have a suggestion from a possible inventor which covers an encoder with alternating N/S strips on a disc or a rectangular support. Nothing is mentioned about the single polarity of the strips. Several other technological steps are listed, such as starting with a monopole N structure, and using a magnetizer to create equally spaced S strips on the original N object.

The suggestion seems to be absurd, contradicting the basic laws of physics (another classic example is the perpetual motion machine).

Please let me know if you agree with this this position.

Thanks so much,

Joe Zilberman —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.243.70.141 (talk) 15 June 2007

Hate to say it, but I have no expertise in this subject, and my opinion really doesn't hold any weight greater than that of any other Wikipedian. However, if you'd like to edit the Magnetic monopole article, you're welcome to give it a shot -- we are, after all, the encyclopedia anyone can edit! BHG's talk page discussion

Avoiding creating another section, but feel free to refactor, if you like. Just wanted to say, thanks for your efforts at mediating. I'm probably done at BHG's talk page, though I'll keep an eye on the UCFD to see if there's anything else I may want to comment on. As I mentioned, I would be interested in seeing Dmc's logs you mentioned (if you'd prefer to let the issue rest, I also understand). – Luna Santin (talk) 12:06, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Well, until I saw the request for the links, I was in "disengage" mode for a bit. I honestly find this all rather disturbing myself. As for the links, they're on her talk page, but I'll copy that posting here for you:
See:
  • Some categories deleted by this user (You may have to scroll down the deletion log a little, to find them),
  • and restored by me for WP:UCFD listing here,
  • and removed by another user (apparently presuming bad faith) here,
  • and this deletion log for the political issue ones, the political ideology ones, and for the redeletion of the others.
There was also a DRV discussion (scroll down) about the political issue subcats (but not AFAIK the political ideology sub-cats, or the misc "other" cats - Though at least the "furry" category was overturned). And for the general discussion: User_talk:Dmcdevit/Archive19#Your_recent_speedy_deletions. There have also been a few policy proposals intended to support the action after-the-fact, but AFAIK none are even close to consensus. - jc37 15:04, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

re Visual Basic

Thanks for following up on the Visual Basic spamming. The edit protection is a good first measure. At the end of the day this is really minor spam, and I would hate to see a ban put in place for Sri Lankans (systematic bias is not going to fix itself). I only filed the report to ensure an admin took a look at the problem to work out the best solution.

Event-driven programming has also been hit by the same user at least once. I'veitthat page on my watchlist, and notified both talk pages to keep an eye out for this. John Vandenberg 15:11, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Hm... looks like they haven't been by there, too recently. I'll watchlist that, as well. As another tool, either of us could make occasional use of Special:Linksearch to check for any lingering cases we've missed. Thanks for keeping me posted. – Luna Santin (talk) 00:50, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

CLSA

Why did you delete the CLSA entry? The company is well-known in Hong Kong and throughout the global financial community. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 867xx5209 (talkcontribs).

If that is the case, you have my apologies -- the particular article I deleted at CLSA made no mention that would seem to imply or assert that. Do you have any reliable sources which would seem to suggest that, or similar details which might suggest that CLSA meets the notability requirements (WP:CORP in particular)? – Luna Santin (talk) 00:53, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

Oh, dear, haha. ;) I'd totally forgotten about that, had to check your log. It's very nice to see somebody recover from that sort of thing, and get back on their feet. Not honestly sure how many blocks I've got, these days -- since the block log maxes out at 5,000 per page, I can say it takes me two pages to check the whole thing (an unusual request the other day had me thinking I might have accidentally blocked an IP or two indefinitely). I'm sure I'll keep at this, although I would like to put some more effort into articles. Cheers! – Luna Santin (talk) 00:49, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

I couldn't say -- I've never blocked your IP address directly. If you are finding my name attached to blocks which affect you, you may be suffering from autoblocks related to other users who share your IP (whether by virtue of sharing your connection, or by using the same proxy server). I believe I have blocked the range you're on, at some point, but that was some time ago, and for a short duration only, so you shouldn't be affected by it anymore. Question about anon IPs

hi luna, quick question about an anon IP i recently recommended for AIV. are we encouraged to report ISP/geography info on talk pages for IPs that are repeatedly blocked for vandalism? i have the info on the IP and i was wondering if and how to post it. Thanks!! Eliz81 20:02, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

I frequently tag IPs with {{SharedIP}} and {{SharedIPEDU}}, at the top of their talk page. I'd bet there's probably some related templates lying about, perhaps checking the categories those are in will net something useful. As far as AIV goes, it may be worth mentioning, but it's probably better to just get the report in more quickly, unless the extra explanation is helpful to understanding the problem behavior. Or something like that, anyway. – Luna Santin (talk) 20:05, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, I was mightily confused. As for staying out of trouble, I was in fact in the midst of carefully researching my next edit, about to send a question to the help desk, when the crazy autoblock came up :) WookMuff 21:39, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

Ah, gotcha. Autoblocks are a bit funny, that way, sometimes (WP:AUTOBLOCK has more info, if you like, but it's not something you'll need to know very often, I imagine). – Luna Santin (talk) 03:06, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

Userpage

Hi, Luna. Hope you don't mind, but I copied your userpage for my userpage. Cheers, Mystytopia 02:11, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

Not a problem; it's all GFDL, after all. :) – Luna Santin (talk) 03:06, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for the help with my archive. I would've gone mad trying to figure it out! Chicaneo 19:36, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

Of course. :) – Luna Santin (talk) 01:55, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

User talk:LuLu3

Check out Category:Wikipedia sockpuppets of LuLu3 for the fuller situation of this person. In general, he/she has never left. This is a long-term, multi-account, IP hopping vandal with a fixation on editing the Lucile Ball page to show that she is still alive. The page was semi-protected in the last couple of days. I suspect that this has frustrated the vandal and he/she is now trying to revive one of their older accounts to get around the semi-protection there. This vandal's history is of repeated vandal edits to the Lucile Ball page, blanking of the User and Talk pages of those who combat him/her, repeated claims that the edits were mistakes or accidents, and multiple broken promises to stop. Check the talk pages of the various socks for a variety of these incidents. I long ago entered wack-a-mole mode with this vandal, and now whenever he/she pops up on a new IP or sock, I block them on sight. No point in warning a vandal who has seen it all before.

Putting that all together, I suspect that the result of unblocking the Lulu3 account will just be to have that account once again perform the "Lucy is not dead" vandalism, avoiding the semi-protection currently on that page. I'm not going to be particularly upset if you did unblock it. I'll just end up re-blocking it when the inevitable Lucy vandalism occurs. - TexasAndroid 04:36, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

My Block

Just wanted to let you know that I've again got a new IP address, and give you first crack at re-blocking it. But considering that the block that this is all based on (way back when) is expired, and not even me, can we just let it go and move on? 65.30.184.61 05:28, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

Depends what you're planning on doing, really. :p As a genral rule for evading blocks, if you return to the same threads and topics, you'll generally be recognized (and perhaps blocked) regardless of username, IP, or any of those identifying features -- the duck test is really the one to watch for -- but if you just go about your business and work to improve the project, taking in whatever lessons you may have learned from previous blocks and acting in general good faith, it's not even all that likely that anybody will think to check for a connection. Sockpuppetry isn't inherently a bad thing, only when it's used to create false consensus, manipulate the system, evade blocks, or engage in other problematic behaviors. If that makes sense. With that in mind, your best bet is probably avoiding the topics which led to your original block(s) and moving on. There is (or used to be) a line in the blocking policy which states "blocks are not punitive, but preventive," and while I occasionally err, I try to apply that evenly and fairly when I can manage it. – Luna Santin (talk) 05:33, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
Alright, so long as we're cool. :-) I should mention that I've moved my ER rant from AN to WP:VP. I think that's pretty uncontroversial, and I'd really like to get other people involved. IMO, Editor Reviews are very important, but allowing the reviewed editor to modify reviews, regardless of content, jeperodizes their usefulness. 65.30.184.61 05:51, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
Fair enough. Stay out of trouble. ;) – Luna Santin (talk) 05:57, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

Protection Request

Hey, can you semi-protect my userpage? Would it be possible for you to use [edit=autoconfirmed:move=sysop] or do you have to use [edit=autoconfirmed:move=auotconfirmed]? I'd prefer semi-edit protection yet full move protection. Is that possible for userpages, or is it against policy? Thanks, Astrale01talkcontribs 21:27, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

Not a problem -- my understanding is that userpages are generally semi-protected by request, provided the request is reasonable (which it usually is). Move protection is a bit more rare, perhaps, but since I don't anticipate any pressing need for somebody to move your userpage, again, this hardly seems to be a problem. User talk pages are a bit of a stickier issue, as semi-protecting that one might prevent new users from effectively communicating with you, but I don't believe you were asking for that (correct me if I'm wrong). Anyhow, I've protected your userpage for now. Feel free to let me (or any admin, really) know if you'd ever like that changed or modified. – Luna Santin (talk) 21:49, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

Comcast IP Block

Thanks for the block removal. It seems that someone from our comcast area was being disruptive, so we became part of a global block. Anyhow, thanks for removing it. - Sgecko

Of course. I'm not yet entirely sure why the block was set, although CSCWEM tends not to do that sort of thing without good cause. If you want to ask him about it, feel free (and if his response is less than satisfying, feel free to let me know, or bring the issue up at the admin noticeboard. If you'd prefer I have a word with him, regardless, again, just let me know. :) – Luna Santin (talk) 02:10, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

Deletion review

I demand a neutral deletion review of the Anti-Bosniak sentiment article. The so-called "second" nomination is a case of biased voting, and since when is a second nomination acceptable just a week after the first one? (especially if the first one had a result different than the second). If a serious deletion review is not carried out, I will have to suspect injustice, something which I am not tolerant of and will go to any lengths to find the ones responsible for such behavior. One could say I am so stubborn that some admins just might lose their adminships. Ancient Land of Bosoni

Er, deletion review tends to be started by somebody who wants the article undeleted (in this case, probably you). My deletion in this case is purely procedural in nature, I'm afraid. I'm not an absolute believer in following policy for policy's sake, but I tend not to break them willy nilly, either. If you need any help setting up a discussion at DRV, let me know. – Luna Santin (talk) 02:06, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
