[edit] The name

The municipality (originally the parish) is named after the old farm Lunner (Norse Lunnar), since the first church was built here. The name is the plural form of lunnr m 'log'. (The farm and the church is lying on a long hill - and this is probably compared with a log.)

[edit] Coat-of-arms

The coat-of-arms is from modern times (1986). It shows a lily of the valley.
