For the Ancient Egyptian name for the crescent Moon, see Osiris.
The lunar ark or Doomsday ark is a proposed repository of Earth species and cultural artifacts, to be constructed on the Moon in case of severe damage to Earth by a natural or human-made disaster.
Although not a new idea, a serious proposal was made at a February 2008 conference held by the International Space University in Strasbourg, France. Subsequent planning may be taken up by the International Lunar Exploration Working Group (ILEWG).
