Luna 1969C
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Luna 1969C (Ye-8-5 series) was the second Soviet attempt at an unmanned lunar sample return. It was probably similar in design to the later successful Luna 16 spacecraft. It was launched, on a Proton rocket, on June 16, 1969. The spacecraft failed to reach Earth orbit because the Block D upper stage did not ignite.
