Introduction
Dr (Chief) Gabriel Ribadu, a Medical Doctor and accountant, born September 03 1960 in Ilorin,Kwara State of Nigeria.
His Father Mallam Nurudeen Ribadu and Mother Cythia Okeke,an Igbo Woman from the eastern part of Nigeria,both were Civil servant with the then Railway Corporation of Nigeria.
His education and subsequent proffession were dramatic. He was a brilliant boy and he got all his educations sponsored by scholaships.
He became a member of ICAN, Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria in 1984, he graduated from The University of Ilorin.
He joined the Nigeria Federal Ministry of Health in 1985 after he concluded his Paramilitary one year composary training with the Nigeria Youth Service Corp NYSC, that same year 1985 he started a new University degree in Medicine at the then University of Ife, Ile Ife,Oyo State, now called Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State, named in honour of the late staunch Nigeria Politician and Premier of the defunct Western Region of Nigeria, Chief Obafemi Awolowo.Osun State was created from the old Oyo State.
He graduated with a degree in Immunology.
In the year 1995, he rejoined The ministry of health where he remained till date, he held several positions withing the departments,both at the capacity of being an accountant and as a medical doctor that specialized in immunology.
He became the Director General of a Special Task Force, (Group of accountants) set up to unravel the present and past corrupt files of contracts within the health ministry and parastatals, they operate silently within the Ministry of Health.
Working with the anti corruption establishment like The Nigeria Police,The EFCC, The State Security Service, SSS etc.
Alongside EFCC, The Task force has uncovered lots of shady deals among staffs of health Ministry, and many uncompleted projects that has cost the country whooping sum of money in Billions of Dollars. EFCC, the anti corruption body with Nuhu Ribadu,a Police Officer an Assistant Inspector General of Police AIG and Lawyer as the head.
Since its creation, it has uncovered many fraudulent activities of some citizens and has charged many Nigerians, and many Respected public figures, Governors, Ministers, Lawmakers, Senators, House of Assembly members, Contractors and Lots of present and past Leaders with their anti graft policies.And Money has been returned to the country in Billions.
Dr (Chief) Gabriel Ribadu has lot of clouts with phamaceutical companies within and outside the country, he has worked in some capacity in line with sharing of experience on how the World can achieve the dream of combating the AIDS Epidemic with vaccine, and breakthroughs in General Medicine, especialy the medical testings of HIV Anti Retroviral drugs in several country and locations in Africa.
He has partnered with scientist from Neimeth, Roche, Aristopharma Ltd, Active Biotech, Acambis, Cipla,etc in the past on vaccine developments and trials.
He abored Publicity, one of the few Nigerian that shy away from such.
He lost his wife Amina Ribadu and three son in the ADC Aviation Development Company Plane Crash of 7th November 1996 A boeing 727-231 coming from Port Harcourt to Lagos.The plane lost control and crashed after a near miss incident killing all 143 persengers and crews on board and since hasn't remarried.
Chief (Dr) Gabriel Ribadu was linked to the deaths and disapearances of some member of the task force from 2005 till late 2007,The Manager of the Special Task Force, Mr Lanre David Agbaje, and some of its member like Theo Akino, Joseph Owata, Niyi Ajayi, Olayinka Ogun, Mustafa Sheu, Babadeinbo Fadeyi, Victor Chukwudi, Ibrahim Hassan, Beatrice duke and host of others.
Seventeen (17) Member of the task force were either dead or Missing.Some dead bodies were found and some were not.
Of the few bodies founds, evidence and autopsy report show that they all had almost similar cause of death,they died of complications from AIDS and disease of the Meninge, and traces of chemical poisonings.
Although there were absolutely nothing and no reason to blame any of it on Dr Gabriel Ribadu because there were no prove or evidences as such, there were no witness nor eye witness and so till date it remained a Mystery, and Speculation to destroy his credibility.There was no prosecution whatsoever to date.
