Luke Freeman (born Dartford, March 22, 1992) is an English football player currently playing for Arsenal F.C. Academy squad. He is primarily a forward and first played for local side White Oak Wanderers in Bexley before representing Gravesham and subsequently being signed by Charlton Athletic. He was released by Charlton and joined Gillingham at the age of 11.[1]
Freeman made his first team debut for Gillingham in an FA Cup tie against Barnet on 10 November 2007 aged 15 years and 233 days, replacing Efe Sodje as an 80th minute substitute.[2] His debut set two records; he simultaneously became Gillingham's youngest ever first team player,[1] and the youngest player ever to appear in the FA Cup ,[3] breaking records previously held by Billy Hughes and Lee Holmes respectively.
On January 26, 2008 Arsenal's official website stated that Freeman had signed for the club and had made his debut for the academy side. He made his debut for the England under 16 team in the Montaigu Tournament in France, scoring his first goal against the equivalent team from Japan.
