Luke Kevin Burt (born 6 June 1981 in Newcastle, New South Wales) is an Australian professional rugby league player for the Parramatta Eels in the National Rugby League (NRL) competition. His position of choice is at fullback.
Debuting in 1999, at the age of 18, Luke Burt has become one of the more experienced and complete players of the NRL competition.[citation needed]
Burt struggled for consistency following his debut and was restricted to the wing for the earlier parts of his career in favour of players such as Clinton Schifcofske, Brett Hodgson and Wade McKinnon. There he provided many tries down either the left or right flank for Parramatta. However, his outstanding form in the past few years has made him the Parramatta Eels' number one choice at fullback and he has proven to be an integral part of the team. His pace and support play are his best features and have led to many points for the "pocket-rocket" fullback. He continues to defy critics and provide game-breaking ability for the Eels side.
In 2007 Burt continued his great form at fullback and has been particularly impressive with his goalkicking, kicking at just under 90% success rates for the season. His form has put him at the top of the NRL's point scoring list for the 2007 season. Burt dislocated his kneecap against the Newcastle Knights in Round 17 and missed the remainder of the NRL season. In Round 3 of 2008 Luke Burt kicked a field goal in extra time against the Newcastle Knights.
