Luka Balvan

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Luka Balvan (born in 1967 in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Yugoslavia) is a Bosnian Croat musician and songwriter. He is one of the top Croatian religious singers.[citation needed] He has also produced patriotic music.

After his family was forced to leave Banja Luka in 1993 because of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, he started a project called Ima jedan grad ("There is One City"). He wrote several songs about what was happening in his native city.

One of his largest performances was at a youth meeting held in Loreto, Italy at which Pope John Paul II was present.[citation needed] He also performed for the pope during his visit to Croatia in 1997.[citation needed]
