For a second opinion

[edit] Name

It is very unlikely that Luis Pérez das Mariñas is the correct spelling of his name (as opposed to Luis Pérez Dasmariñas, which redirects here). The external link spells his surname without the space, and a Google search turns up about eight times as many hits that way than with the space. (And those with the space are mostly Wikipedia mirrors.) Also, there is a municipality in the Philippines named for him, and spelled without the space. Dos Mariñas would be more believable, but das is not a Spanish word, nor (as far as I know) a particle used in Spanish names. Rbraunwa 23:00, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
