Luiz Fernando Carvalho

Luiz Fernando Carvalho de Almeida was born in 1960 in Rio de Janeiro. He's an innovating Brazilian director, but he's also a producer, a writer and an editor. He studied Literature and Architecture.

His first feature film was Lavoura Arcaica (To the left of the father), based on the homonym novel by Raduan Nassar. The movie keeps the poetical language used by the writer.

His works on TV include artistic series such as Os Maias and Hoje é dia de Maria. Both of them show Luiz Fernando's different way of directing for television.
