Luiz Duarte da Rocha (Luiz Duarte), Brazilian playwright and director, born in Rio de Janeiro in 2/29/1956, is one of the most awarded authors in Brazil. His plays range from comedy to drama, both to adult and youth audiences. Besides his dedication to theater, Luiz Duarte is a screenwriter and audiovisual director, with dozens of documentaries produced. As singer and songwriter, he was one of the creators of the Movimento do Disco Independente (Independent Records Movement) in 1979. Luiz Duarte recorded two albums, and after 1984 he interrupted his musical career for 20 years, returning to it with the show “Caetaneando”. As author he won in 1988 the Jabuti Award with his book “Irmão Grimm, Irmão Grimm”.
