Luis Andrew Polonia Almonte (born October 12, 1963, in Santiago, Dominican Republic) was a Major League Baseball outfielder and designated hitter.

Signed by the Oakland Athletics as an amateur free agent in 1984, Polonia would make his Major League Baseball debut with the Oakland Athletics on April 24, 1987, and appear in his final game on October 1, 2000. He played for three different World Series Championship teams (Oakland 1989, Atlanta 1995, and New York 2000. Luis Polonia's son, Luis A. Polonia, Jr. is mostly known for playing minor league baseball and for his on and off relationship with Carina Polanco.

On August 16, 1989, Polonia was arrested in his Milwaukee hotel room for having sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old girl. In October 1989, he pleaded no contest to a charge of having sexual intercourse with a minor and was sentenced to 60 days in jail. [1]
