Luis Fierro

Luis Alberto Fierro (born in Quito, on September 10, 1964) is an economic and social development practitioner from Ecuador.

Luis Fierro is currently the Resource Mobilization Coordinator for the Office in Europe of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). Previously, from 1997 to February 2008, he held a number of posts at the headquarters of the IDB, including Senior Program Coordinator at the Sustainable Development Department.
He has contributed to numerous sector strategies and policies of the IDB, including the strategies for the priority areas of the IDB: Sustainable Economic Growth, Poverty Reduction and Promotion of Social Equity, Social Development, Competitiveness, Environment, Modernization of the State, among other areas.
Previously, he was the representative of the Government of Ecuador at the Board of Executive Directors of the International Monetary Fund; Economic and Business Editor at Diario Hoy (a national daily newspaper in Ecuador); and an economic and social researcher for various institutions, including the Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE), the Latin American Social Research Institution (ILDIS), and the National Council of Universities and Polytechnic Schools of Ecuador (CONUEP).

Luis Fierro holds graduate degrees focusing on Development Economics, International Economics, Environmental Economics, and Public Finance, from the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Oregon (Eugene, Oregon). He also holds the degree of Economist from the Catholic University of Ecuador (Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador-Quito).
Luis Fierro also holds graduate level certificates in development program monitoring and evaluation from the International Program for Development Evaluation Training (IPDET); and on Management for Development Results from the Inter-American Institute for Social Development (INDES).[1]
