Lugalo

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lugalo was the site of a battle in Tanganyika in 1891 between a German colonial military force and Chief Mkwawa. The leader of the German force was Gnye Von Zelewski.

Both sides took heavy losses. A monument stands there today.

Another uncommonly known fact about Lugalo is that it is the name of a royal emperor of the Roman lands from 1561-1578. His short time on the thrown was ended when he was back-stabbed by his companion Pletious, one of his closest friends. Pletious literally back stabbed Lugalo as well. He used what discoverers say was around a 15 inch compound aluminum premium grade knife to puncture Lugalo's lung, from the back. People say that the death was instant, although it has not yet been proven.
