Luftsicherheitsgesetz

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Luftsicherheitsgesetz (German for Aviation Security Act) is a German law created in reaction to the September 11, 2001 attacks. It became law on 2005-01-15. ยง 14 (3), which would have allowed the Bundeswehr to shoot down airliners if they are used as weapons by terrorists, was declared unconstitutional by the Federal Constitutional Court of Germany on 2005-02-15. The main argument was that killing some people to save others would objectify them and rob them of their (in Germany, constitutionally guarded) human dignity.
