Luffa aegyptiaca (common names, Smooth luffa and Egyptian luffa) is a species of Luffa plant. It is cultivated and grown for its fruit. The fruit remsembles a cucumber. Young fruit can be eaten as a vegetable while ripe fuits can be use to make bath sponges. They may also be grown as an ornamental plant. Its native to North Africa.
