Talk:Ludlow massacre/Comments
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I believe that the Ludlow Massacre is roughly equivalent on the importance scale to the Haymarket Riot. Both events became known internationally. Both events contributed greatly to the political climate of the period in which they occurred. Both events have inspired (at least) annual commemorations which continue long after all the participants of both events have passed on. The histories of both events are recalled with significant monuments.
The Ludlow Massacre helped greatly to inspire an international awareness of the need for legislation to protect workers' rights.
On the importance scale, the Haymarket Riot receives high importance as an example rating. Therefore (in my view) the Ludlow Massacre should be rated high importance, as well. Richard Myers 21:08, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
