Did Ludicorp actually get bought by Yahoo! or was it just the Flickr Application and the employees (including Ludicorp's owners) then followed?

I don't believe the company itself was bought....but I cannot verify and I do not see any verification of this fact (no citations).
Ludicorp was itself purchased. From the front page of www.ludicorp.com as of 2007-08-23:

Yahoo Acquires Flickr

Yes it's true! Yahoo has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Ludicorp, makers of Flickr. The announcement was made March 20 on the Flickr Blog.
