Happy New Year!
Help desk?
Happy New Year. I've got a bot/ vandal problem in another wiki media project, www.femaanswers.org. Apparent spam bot registers new user for each edit, but auto blocking not working. My understanding how to block this activity is insufficient. I've poked around to determine how to do an IP Check over at my site, without success. I thought I'd ask someone who knows? Any help appreciated. Cheers. Castellanet (talk) 21:13, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

- Thank you for your thoughtful, detailed response. Unfortunately, I have problem installing the extensions you suggest, but now I don't doubt this is what I need to do, so you have given me new reasons to change the site host so I can have control. You are making our cyber world a friendly place! Merci beaucoup et Bonnee Année! Castellanet (talk) 01:01, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

You're right, and I shouldn't edit via three browser windows. I've restored it to the blanked version. Thanks for the heads up. Pedro : Chat 22:15, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Block
After my bot is done redirecting all the cities in the state I usually go back and look at all the broken redirects and fix them - I don't think I should have been blocked. Ohmpandya (Talk) 18:17, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

Ohmpandya
It sounded OK to me to create the redirects, but I had to stress not to create ones to non-existent pages because yes, that would be a waste. Obviously, I didn't realize he was going to create so many so fast (at least three thousand in just the past week or so!). If they all need to be deleted, I can do that. jj137 ♠ 22:26, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
- We probably should get a larger consensus on this before continuing (and if so, probably with a bot). I'm not entirely sure continuing is the best idea; you cited earlier it wastes server resources, and I think it probably does. Well, the decision is not up to me. :) jj137 ♠ 00:57, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Edit war
If I am in an edit war it is only with user:JdeJ who is in an edit war with me and I hope he has been warned about edit warring too. Can you please step in to mediate the article France. Signsolid (talk) 17:51, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

- With all due respect, I've made two similar reverts to the article. I've made other edits to the same article, sure, but on completely different subjects. I admit that I'm a bit surprised by your warning, as I've never seen this warning after just two edits. I note in passing that Signsolid has a history of attacking me because of my nationality, deleting content and lying about my actions. You're free to check his edit history and mine. Cheers JdeJ (talk) 17:56, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

I've taken the matter to the France talk page but could do with some third party intervention to see that a neutral POV is taken. Signsolid (talk) 17:57, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
User:JdeJ is obviously an experienced user who knows how to make sure his opinion sticks over others and is blotting out my opinion with his experience. Signsolid (talk) 17:59, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
User:JdeJ has found 2 or 3 newspaper article syaing the UK's economy fell behind that of France's and he gone through Wikipedia like a tornado changing rankings and figures and throwing out IMF, World Bank, and CIA factbook figures and rankings, which were the gold standard of rankings and people didn't dispute over figures and rankings. Signsolid (talk) 18:20, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- Well, more lies. I've edited two articles with this information, the UK and France. Hardly any tornado. And I haven't taken out a single source by any organisation in doing so, as can be seen from the edit history on when I first introduced my edit. In both cases did I source a sentence that previously was unsourced. Yesterday, I did remove an old IMF estimate that Signsolid tried to insert over the Financial Times, despite the fact the he had been told repeatedly that it was a very old estimate and thus not qualified as source. I'm getting tired on Signsolid lying about my actions, attacking me over my nationality and attacking me over my supposed political views. I hope actions is taken against him. Your block on User:Justinm1978
I highly suggest the checkuser clerks give some serious thought to the process used to validate whether or not someone is a sockpuppet. The evidence given was suspect at best, considering that I am an established user and it should be clear if you can see my IP that I have been editing from the same two or three IP's for months now (I have static IP's at all of my locations), with an occasional edit from somewhere else. I am not participating in the discussion because it is cyclical and a rehash of what was talked about earlier.
The level of insulted I feel by this is not quite measurable at this moment, but rest assured that it high. At least you removed the block, but it should never have been given in the first place. I will be lodging a complaint because of this. Justinm1978 (talk) 14:45, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Thermal Wind
Hi. I rewrote the Thermal Wind article. The old article was a stub, and a bad one at that. It was incoherent, factually incorrect at times and lacked visuals. I made new visuals, took the existing material and rewrote it so that it reads well and is accurate. I forgot to log in before editing the article, you can view the original (with the history of revisions) on my userpage at nedtheprotist.

Thanks for uploading Image:Skype logo.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 05:33, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

You should be more careful about alleging vandalism. In this case, Wikipedia was using, without authorization, an image that belongs to me. You owe me an apology. I have spent a great deal of time and money building the Early Office Museum web site from which this image was taken. It is possible, of course, that the original unauthorized download was made by someone different from the person who uploaded it to Wikipedia. I am looking into that.

clerking
I see you are a RFCU clerk. Someone has put a request on the RFCU board themselves instead of letting a clerk do it. It is malformed. The request is on Dr.Fix. I explained to person clerking the request (not a clerk) that the request is malformed (not a category F). See http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk%3AAmatulic&diff=191531017&oldid=189786555 I also wrote to Dr.Fix giving him editing advice to prevent RFCU complaints. Archtransit (talk) 23:53, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- My job as a clerk is not to tell people whether or not their request is likely to be processed. Some recent events showed again that it is the CU's responsibility to perform a check, at their discretion. Please let them decide what is a good or a bad check. My own opinion, that I wouldn't express there or to this user, is that this smells like foul play (and that doesn't mean that the check will be processed). This is definitely not a malformed request, as a request that has 100% chances to fail. If you have concerns with the usage of the CU tools, I suggest you contact the arbcom or the ombudsman commission instead of "friendlily" pressuring users and checkusers to drop requests. -- lucasbfr talk 09:25, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
-
- I thought the clerk's job is to make sure the requests are compliant. If they are misleading, such as the wrong category, they are either to be placed in the noncompliant list or the author notified. A malformed request is not "a request that has 100% chances to fail" nor should you just refer cases to ArbCom. The correct thing to do would be for the user to correct the request. I think a category G is accurate but one could fib a little and claim it's an E. A category "F" is clearly untrue. I am not pressuring anyone to drop any request but merely requesting that requests be correctly formed and accurate.
-
- I have no opinion on the case that I commented. I did give some "don't 3RR and how to use convincing edits and citations" advice to the person who is the subject of the complaint. It's not right for people to submit RFCU using false categories. Just describe it accurately. If it's a category G, then say so. If it's an E, say so. I saw a case where a RFCU was rejected so the person waited a while and then submitted it under a false RFCU to fool the checkuser, who was fooled (but the results still came out as unlikely or something like that). That is really unethical. Archtransit (talk) 16:40, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
- Well edit wars are better categorized under E than G (G used to be the "I didn't bother to categorize" category). In that case I usually add a comment, but CUs know as well as us what is a 3RR violation and what isn't, and can react accordingly. The clerks job is to help users filling the requests, we don't decline cases. We sometimes temporarily delist the non compliant requests, but not that often. About what you said, yes it's unfortunate and shouldn't happen, but that's the CU responsibility to evaluate and check the evidences. Archtransit (talk) 16:40, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

moves to user space
I am puzzled a bit about the moves to User:AMK152 userspace you are doing with the Bionicle character articles. These are arguable covered by the episodes and characters injunction. there were still prod tags on then, which are now inappropriate, and I am removing them. But I do not really know how this should be handled. Did the user request this? her was not the only editor. DGG (talk) 01:33, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Regarding the copypaste tag that you removed, I checked and compared the section on the Minor Characters page, and the 24 Wikia page, and a large part of it was directly copied and pasted from the 24 Wikia page. I'm relatively new to Wikipedia, I was unsure of the correct tag to use, obviously copying word-for-word is not the right thing to do, and I thought attention should be drawn to that fact. Would a "Duplication" tag be more appropriate?
I also see you are an administrator. Could you kindly edit [Noah Daniels] to redirect to the proper section? My justification is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Noah_Daniels Steve Crossin (talk) 11:33, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
- Replied on this user's talk page - 11:47, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
Okay, I will be completely honest, I'me very new to Wikipedia, I believe I have good ideas, but I'm not too sure how to back them up. I've heard someone who was recommended a mentor, I'm just having some trouble with understanding Wikipedia Policy. I think I could use a mentor, but am unsure of how to get one.
As for the length of the article, it's far too long, and unorganised. It's also not set out correctly. Let me explain. I'll search for Noah Daniels in the search bar, it will not direct to the correct section of the page, it's a little hard to explain, but searching for it would explain what I'm talking about.
I've also divided the sections into further sections, sorted them further by season where they first appeared, just to make the article more navigatable. I did this in good faith, but recently I've found my edits just reverted without notifying me, is there anyway to prevent this?
And can the merges be stopped, at least until the page has been fixed up? It's giving me a bad enough headache as it is. Steve Crossin (talk) 11:55, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
- Replied on this user's talk page - 12:28, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for fixing that, but I agree, it will most likely be reverted. Is there a way you can prevent it from being reverted, possibly by semi-protecting the article? I believe that functionality is more important than aesthetics, but if so many articles were not merged into one in the first place, it wouldnt be in such a mess. Any suggestions on what to do with this article? Steve Crossin (talk) 12:34, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

I've just seen the comment on the Minor Characters for 24 talk page, but I'm unsure on the effect of what you said actually means. Is there a restriction on editing these articles? It's a little unclear to me, could you explain it, if possible?
Also, is my proposal to split up the page OK? There's a merge proposal at the moment as well. Steve Crossin (talk) 13:21, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

- Thanks for your clarification, I know in the past consensus has been asked (if not always followed) regarding merging articles, I think it should be asked as well whether splitting the articles up is agreed to, it's just trying to address the readability of the article, and it would be split up into Seasons, of when characters """first""" appeared on the series.
-
- As for the anchors, I know what they are, I just didn't realise at the time that they were called anchors.
-
- And, as it has been decided that for the time being, no more of these articles should be merged/deleted, if any more articles are merged, would it be possible to request some sort of protection on them? As I've seen, the Arbitration case is still open. Steve Crossin (talk) 16:01, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

- Is it possible then, that the user be notified that ArbCom has made a decision for the time being, that the pages are not to be merged or deleted? The user is lucy-marie. And I do not mean to attack this user in any way, shape, or form, I just know that they are the user who has proposed most of the merges, so they are the one that should be notified. Very well, that seems reasonable. I'm also trying to find citations for the Minor CTU agents in 24 page, its been tagged with a (Unreferenced) tag, yet some sections I cannot find citations for. Also, if I can find at least one reliable citation for an article, can I change the tag from (Unreferenced) to (Refimprove) as it would have one citation, the part saying "This article does not cite any references or sources", is not correct. - I can't care less if he is heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, or anything else. You don't add any comment that might be libelous on the biography of someone if you don't correctly source it with a reliable source. This is policy: Unsourced or poorly sourced contentious material — whether negative, positive, or just questionable — about living persons should be removed immediately and without discussion from Wikipedia articles. End of the discussion on that point. I personally can't speak Italian, therefore I am unable to assert whether or not the source you are now pasting on my talk page is reliable, and says what you assert it says. And don't even start telling me that the fact that his wife is breaking with him after seeing pictures of him kissing a man is not contentious. Re:
Thanks. Specification appears to allow users to use this when they are performing uncontroversial page moves. WP:RM states If the only obstacle to an uncontroversial move is not an article (e.g. a redirect or a disambiguation page with a single target article), the template {{db-move}} can be used instead to have that page deleted under criterion for speedy deletion G6., while WP:VOTE discourages use of votings when consensus has also been reached by other means (in this case it was brought up months ago and everyone agreed). There's an arbcom ruling more relevant in spirit than word Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration/AndriyK#Reversal_of_irreversible_page_moves Moved pages which have become irreversible by adding to the page history of the redirect page may be moved back without the necessity of a vote at Wikipedia:Requested moves, though the page hadn't been moved. In general, I think G6 is good way to do it, leaving it to the admin responsible to veto or refrain from vetoing ... it's just as shame the tagging box doesn't make it easier to provide details. Hello, my name is Daniel Tzvi and I'm a Sysop on the Hebrew Wikipedia. Today I b locked a vandal, and the autoblock affected one of our prolific writers as well as an entire University. - No it is not. I used to warn every vandal that was blocked, but, when it adds up, it is very time consuming, and it is source of misunderstanding when blocks expire and IPs are shared. I always warn the users I indef block, and I blank the talk pages of IPs I block for a long time (> 6 months). I usually warn users when I block them, to be sure they get the message. But most IPs do hit and run, and I believe the error message is enough to send the word home. I hope that helps! -- lucasbfr talk 18:49, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

As an habit, I block the confirmed socks when I move the cases from pending to completed (when I am sure of what I am doing), but most of the time the filler is the user most able to act, so we don't always perform the blocks (some clerks are not admins). -- lucasbfr talk 17:34, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

I don't like to do the block on the incidents that I myself am reporting. I feels like a conflict of interest.

Roland Nicholson
Several months ago you deleted a page called Roland Nicholson, Jr., the same editor, Sean Corrigan, recreated it again as Roland Nicholson jr, that page was deleted and now it appears that a new version exists as Roland Nicholson. The article is still as non notable as it was when you deleted it. Can you speedy delete or should I do something?Marylandstater (talk) 22:03, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
- Mmm, the A7 case is borderline. You can't G4 because speedy deletions are not eligible for G4. I guess the next step would be AfD. I'm not doing it myself because I don't have the time to do a little research first. -- lucasbfr talk 23:19, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Pardon my ignorance
Hello!
Even though I have read the guidelines to acceptable checkuser requests, I do have a question.
There is a user that was blocked 3 weeks ago for a period of 1 month and I strongly believe that he is using a sockpuppet to get around his block. The reason why I am reluctant to ask for a checkuser is because I started a sockpuppet case for the suspect and I'm not sure if it's considered bad practice to ask for a checkuser while the other process is still open.
Input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks. SWik78 (talk) 19:28, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
- Me again! As it turns out, I won't need you to answer that question. Since I left you the above message yesterday, the sockpuppet case had been handled this morning and lenghty blocks have been applied to the involved parties. Thanks anyways.

Mr. Lucasbfr:
I am a teacher in the Guyana. During the spring semester teachers in several nations in this part of the world pursue a block involving American politics. Roland Nicholson has been a leading opponent of capital punishment and we use his work as part of our study. I would think we may not be the only ones doing so. It would be a good deal easier for many people if you could restore the page. What can we do to have it done? please restore my article on "phylogenetic profiling"
Hi,
About a year ago, you deleted my article on "phylogenetic profiling." This is an important technique in comparative genomics. The article was properly referenced. I created it anonymously, but have since registered (tonight in fact - daniel_haft), and a quick Google search will find this peer-reviewed scientific article, where I am first author.
Exopolysaccharide-associated protein sorting in environmental organisms: the PEP-CTERM/EpsH system. Application of a novel phylogenetic profiling heuristic.
Here is the deletion log entry.
23:25, 9 June 2007 Lucasbfr (Talk | contribs) deleted "Phylogenetic profiling" (Expired PROD, concern was: nn science article with no links to it)
I would like to request that you restore the entry. The reason for its deletion (that other articles did not link to it) would have been corrected over time. For instance, the article on David Eisenberg should point to it.
The short discussion of phylogenetic profiling in Protein-protein_interaction_prediction is pretty bad - an uninformative description of a non-standard treatment.
Please let me know if you are still active in the Wikipedia world and if you can restore the article. I will take custody of it from that point forward.
Many thanks,

Blocked user, no note
Hello, you blocked User:68.44.42.141 after the user had received the last warning, but didn't put a note on the talk page (User talk:68.44.42.141). I think it would be nice if you did that. Makes it kind of easier in the future to immediately see that the user had been blocked. Best regards --Catgut (talk) 22:48, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
- In fact, this is intentional: I used to warn every vandal that was blocked, but, when it adds up, it is very time consuming, and it is source of misunderstanding when blocks expire and IPs are shared. I always warn the users I indef block, and I blank the talk pages of IPs I block for a long time (> 6 months). I usually warn users when I block them, to be sure they get the message. But most IPs do hit and run, and I believe the error message is enough to send the word home. I know this may cause some overload when you warn, but that does not happen often. -- lucasbfr talk 22:55, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

This stuff really needs to be flagged, perhaps all the micronation stuff with a few exceptions like Sealand where they made a big splasg should be conflated? Oh, the website you reference? Not a shred of evidence, just tosh I think. Orphaned non-free media (Image:France 4.PNG)
Thanks for uploading Image:France 4.PNG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Checkuser case 75.58.34.144 filed by User:Arcayne
Regarding your note at:[11]
Is there a formal mechanism to sanction user Arcayne for a false report? My basis is twofold:
-
- He failed to present a single diff to support his formal accusation of, ""Ongoing, serious pattern vandalism involving dozens of incidents" and "3RR violation using socks"
- He was well aware that there was no pretense of more than one individual:
- Every other one of the likely socks of the anon show similarly abusive editing patterns, and all use the '♠' as an identifier. Arcayne
By filing a formal charge which he knew to be false and without ANY evidence to support in an effort to ban me he has seriously abused Wiki policy and procedures while wasting the good faith efforts of people like yourself. 75.57.165.180 (talk) 17:11, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
- With respect, please don't assume what I know/knew/will ascertain, anon. You were reported because you were editing under a number of different anons, including, concealing your identity and edit history. To whit, complaints on your other anon IP addresses (1, 2, 3, 4) do not show up on your rebooted IP account. This may all be coincidental, but with your accompanying rancor and unfriendly edits, it cast your actions in an extremely poor light. Thus, the checkuser report. If you are willing to keep the same account and be polite, we can reboot our relationship and interaction with one another. If you choose not to do any of that, you will likely find yourself the subject of another RfCU or administrative report. That is not a threat, mind you - it is an eventuality. There are editors who assume far less good faith than myself. - Arcayne (cast a spell) 21:08, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

My uploaded files
Hi, I just saw your message and I'm hre to reply. Well, I'm not going to discuss abou them. I'm really upset because of the files we user upload in Wikipedia or Commons. We really look for to use them in the best ways, but administrators often "create" something to delete them. Sorry, if I'm being rude, but this is true. ABout the pics, the red panda I got the license from Ryonouske to use whatever Red Panda pictures that belong to him http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Pandas_vermelho.jpg Red Panda. Brian Littrell, GWen Stefabi, Jeff Timmons, Backstreet Boys are official photoshoots made for promote their albuns . Martin, Johnny are actor and do photoshoot to promote themselves either. So aren't these fair-use? Mariah's one is from a magazine, this one I think we can't use as I read wikipedia's policies. Anyway, do whateva you must. I'm not going to stress myself with this. I do what I can to make wikipedia's article great and this is simply despised. I'm gonna focus myself only on doing articles at wikipedias in portuguese now. Well...sorry for anything...

As far as I can see I cotnravine no copyright or veriability policy. The bot seems to go out and remove all YouTube links. Really stupid of the person who made it. Thanks for the help. 88.107.110.247 (talk) 21:05, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, but these guidelines states that an aticle should not be:
1."Mere collections of external links or Internet directories". The DMG article has links at the bottom after a lengthy article, therefore does not contravene this principle.
2."Mere collections of internal links." Nope, it is not.
3. "Mere collections of public domain or other source material". Nope, again.
4. "Mere collections of photographs or media files with no text to go with the articles." There is substantial text in the article.
Ultimately, the videos give the reader the spirit of the Gala that the text could never evoke. It contravenes no guidelines as far as I can see. Certainly not the ones above that you cited. 88.107.110.247 (talk) 21:18, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
- Indeed, the guidelines state that "excessive lists can dwarf articles and detract from the purpose of Wikipedia." There is nothing about "Wikipedia is aiming as having as few external links as possible" - this is a very misleading thing to say. 88.107.110.247 (talk) 21:20, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
Block on Shapiros10/
You posted in User:Chris is my name:
This user is a sock puppet of Shapiros10, and has been blocked indefinitely. Please refer to Checkuser for evidence. See block log and current autoblocks.
I am unable to find a record of a CheckUser for this user or Shapiros10, would you mind providing the link? --Marcinjeske (talk) 04:58, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
- Replied on this user's talk page - 11:33, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, the link was useful. The issue is moot anyway as Shapiros10 seems to have requested leave of Wikipedia (at least his user page was deleted with that reason given). I was just concerned that the single contrib by User:Chris is my name was not obvious sockpuppetry. Thank you for setting my mind at ease. --Marcinjeske (talk) 04:47, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

ACGNJ - Amateur Computer Group of New Jersey
There used to be an ACGNJ page on Wikipedia but you or someone deleted it.
(Speedy deleted per (CSD A7), was an article about a club that didn't assert the importance or significance of the subject.. using TW)
Indication that it was not "importance or significance".
ACGNJ was and still is the FIRST Computer club still in operation, started in 1975. We host 12 or more SIGs per month. We host TCF for that last 33years. TCF the first and longest running Computer Show! http://www.tcf-nj.org/
Apologies for any mis-understanding.
ACGNJ Webmaster - http://www.acgnj.org/ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.39.238.74 (talk) 21:35, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
- I remember this page indeed (it was deleted in 2007). The issue at hand was that, apart from claiming that it was the oldest computer group, there was no other mention of significance. As I see it, your show is a very local manifestation. I remember there was a debate somewhere about it though, but I can't find it. Anyway, if you wish, I can restore the article and ask for a broader "Deletion debate". Just give me the word! -- lucasbfr talk 09:18, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
Question
Would you mind taking off the ([[Protected User:JoeCool950 [move=sysop]). I didn't get a response from you. I would just like that off. I decided to take off that request of name change that you put in at Wikipedia: Change username just to let you know. Don't think it's safe to use real name as User Name, hopefully you agree. I do though want that thing I mentioned earlier taken off please!!!! Please respond back and let me know. Even though I took off that request you put in at Wikipedia: Change username, hopefully that won't require a block. But do take off that ([[Protected User: JoeCool950 [move=sysop]). I'd also like advise about the Username, is it safe to use an e-mail account name as a username, or should I think about changing it.--JoeCool950 (talk) 00:37, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

Why
Why did you block e-mail from User:Who ordered 137? ? This prevents communication for unblock requests and other legimate uses. Please explain.
I only saw this person's name because I did an unblock request for a user who did it incorrectly and added such a request to ANI. JerryVanF (talk) 05:42, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
- Because it's Grawp, and we don't need him to start spamming once he's blocked. I even considered protecting his talk page to be honest. -- lucasbfr talk 09:12, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
Username
I'm definitely not going to move username, because the move doesn't move the whole page, it just moves a certain page, the Wikipedia: Changing username is what I need to go to. Although, I might change it back.--Joey Kaminski (talk) 18:58, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
Username
I took your opinion and went back to Wikipedia: Changing username to see if they'll change it back to what it was. Using real name probably isn't safe to use as a username over the internet. We'll see if they change it back. I didn't even know about Wikipedia: Changing username, but will use that.--Joey Kaminski (talk) 19:14, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
[2nd Batch] IndiaFM Images
Hello Lucasbfr, this is Rahul once again. Previously, you ticketed the first batch of the IndiaFM Images, which I uploaded sometime during the third week of April. As of today, I uploaded the second batch of the IndiaFM images on April 28, 2008 but I have still not gotten any response from the OTRS. Could you please take a look at them when you have time. I would greatly appreciate it. Regards --Bollywood Dreamz Talk 17:30, 8 May 2008
- Hi, I can't locate the ticket in our system. Is is acted upon already? If not, can you give me the reference so I can have a second look? -- lucasbfr talk 09:31, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
- Lucasbfr, sorry for the late response. I really don't understand what you are asking me to do. From what I understand, are you asking me to send another e-mail to the the OTRS, where I ask for permission and include the links of the new images? If so, let me know as I will send another e-mail to the OTRS again. As for the images, I uploaded the second batch on April 28, 2008 but I have still not gotten any response from the OTRS. BTW, thanks for your help with this. I really appreciate it. Regards --Bollywood Dreamz Talk 19:18, 10 May 2008

Hi, the recent edit you made to Serbian parliamentary election, 2008 has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thanks. Ijanderson977 (talk) 22:59, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
- Can you please take the time to explain this message? Because I don't get how this edit can be labeled vandalism. -- lucasbfr talk 23:03, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
I did not label it as vandalism. You have deleted something for no reason and without an explanation (AKA "un-constructive"), I was letting you know that your edit has been reverted. ok? ;) Ijanderson977 (talk) 23:07, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
- Fair enough. the reason it was added in the first place was because it was believed that ROK was to mention something on the subbject at matter. However nothing was nothing was written in the notes section as we were not to violate WP:Crystal. I did not use anything referring to vandalism btw. Ijanderson977 (talk) 23:13, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of ¿ ¿ ¿ ¿ ¿ ¿Я Ǝ อ อ Ά H
A tag has been placed on ¿ ¿ ¿ ¿ ¿ ¿Я Ǝ อ อ Ά H, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Frank | talk 11:32, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- ¿Я Ǝ อ อ Ά H — Do you have any idea what that even means? Not that's important, but the selection of moved user/pages seems really arbitrary and I'd like to make some sense of it. dorftrottel (talk) 12:00, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Guinea
Although the article for guinea(ethnic slur) has been deleted, it should still be mentioned on the disambig page. I don't like ethnic slurs, but I think it's irresponsible to pretend they don't exist. Guinea is a fairly common one. -98.221.133.96 (talk) 15:34, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

CU query
Hi, Lucasbfr; Wellwater conspiracy is listed twice at Checkuser, and I'm not sure if I did the right thing by moving Jokeshow back to Outstanding Requests (from Completed requests) when I added a party. Do you have time to have a look? Thanks, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 21:25, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
- Woops thanks for noticing... I was wondering why it was not transcluded already :D. Your move sounds good. We don't often do it, but there's no rule :) -- lucasbfr talk 21:41, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
Me again ... why was Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Jokeshow moved to completed, when the additional party hasn't been completed? SandyGeorgia (Talk) 13:18, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Recent Blocking
Hi. Can you tell me why this user was blocked? It appears that he only made non-harmful (and only 5) test edits to British Arabs, for which he was not warned. If this user was sockpuppeting, there should be a valid discussion before blocking and a template to put up afterwards. If I am being a dumbass (as I am known to do) and missing something obvious, please tell me. Erik the Red 2 (AVE·CAESAR) Sorry, read the relevant discussion. Erik the Red 2 (AVE·CAESAR) 22:26, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- The sockpupetry is quite averred, I am not tagging him yet since there is a debate on who the master of that batch is. :) -- lucasbfr talk 22:54, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for your attention concerning possible sockpuppets of user:Lycander's Aim. I provided the "diff" s that you requested and some of the edits are pretty subtle. when you will see them you will understand. I hope you will take care of it soon. You can go there using this link [13]
Thank you.--Anna polly (talk) 16:02, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
Thank you Lucasbfr ! you made an enormous effort. Blocking so many sockpuppets is not an easy task. Most of them sounded familiar and their edits were very similar. I'm just speechless. Even Grinkov and Kotlyarov, they were always getting on my nerves but I would never imagine that it would actually be from the same computer , Ip or whatever it was. These people definitely have a lot of free time : ) --Anna polly (talk) 13:36, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
