[edit] Implications for FC
I re-wrote the following to try to make it less polemical ("Lucy's ability to communicate via typed communication is, today, undisputed, demonstrating that for at least some functionally non-verbal people with autism facilitated communication is a viable pathway to communication where verbal speech may otherwise never develop."). I see this page was considered for deletion, and the consenus was to keep it. If the page is to be taken seriously however, it must be better balanced. Either just describe her life as objecitvely as possible, without using it to try to support FC, or at least incllude some material on how opponents of FC regard her story.
