According to John Foot in his book 'Calcio: A History of Italian Football,' Cecconi wasn't a friend of the shopkeeper, he wasn't even a football fan which is why he didn't recognise Cecconi and therefore proceded to shoot him. The 'friend' myth seems to have been created in the NY Cosmos book and film, which Foot has read and comments on in his book. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.158.15.161 (talk) 17:06, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
