Lucy was born on December 3, 1983, in Santa Barbara, California. Her father is the famous guitarist Joe Walsh. Lucy has stated in various interviews that "[her] dad always told me if I wanted to be a musician he was not going to make any calls or pull any favors to get me a record deal."[2] She is trained in classical piano and was a pre-professional ballerina for 10 years. In 2005, Lucy toured with Ashlee Simpson on her Autobiography tour.

Lucy dated former Click Five singer Eric Dill for about two years after meeting on the Autobiography tour, but the couple broke up in late 2007. Lucy appears in The Click Five's video for "Catch Your Wave" as well.

In early 2008, Lucy was dropped from Island Records (according to her Myspace page) after a minor label restructuring due to a new label head taking charge.
