Lucy Punch (born 30 December 1977) is an English actress best known for her roles in both the television show Doc Martin on ITV and for her starring role on the United States programme The Class, on CBS.

She played Sally Peep in The 10th Kingdom, Hattie in Ella Enchanted, had a supporting role in Istvan Szabo's Being Julia, singleton 'Melanie' in Are You Ready For Love?. Punch also played the naive daughter of Alison Steadman's character in the short lived French and Saunders series, Let Them Eat Cake. She also played the minor roles of Eve Draper in the film Hot Fuzz and Melissa in Midsomer Murders (season 5, episode 1). Punch also appeared in a one off special called Ladies and Gentlemen, a comedy set in the 1800s, she played the role of Alice. Ladies and Gentlemen aired on October 12, 2007 as part of Channel 4's Comedy Showcase. Her most recent roles are Verity Thwaites in the 2007 film, St Trinian's, and Shelly in Kids in America.

  • Punch performed with the National Youth Theatre from 1993 to 1997, and began a course at University College London before dropping out to become an actress.
  • She left the television show The Class after appearing in all but one of the first twelve episodes.[1]
  • Even though Punch is 30 years old she is still cast as a teenager. In St Trinians she plays a schoolgirl which is a role that is 14 years her junior. Playing younger or older roles is one that has a long tradition in theatre, television and film and allows actors to show their acting range and talent. Punch's work is a part of this tradition.
