Lucy Hannah (July 16, 1875 – March 21, 1993) was an African American supercentenarian recognized by the Guinness Book of Records as the fourth-oldest person on record and the oldest person ever not to have held the title of oldest living person, since her final years coincided with those of Jeanne Calment. Hannah died on March 21, 1993, at the age of 117 years and 248 days, placing her with the top four longest lived people ever. She was the oldest African American and the second oldest American. She was born in Alabama and died in Detroit, Michigan (both United States), where she had moved to in order to escape the racial tensions of the deep South.[citation needed]
