Lt. Col. Lucien Emile Conein (b. November 29, 1919 in Paris, France; d. June 3, 1998, Bethesda, Maryland, USA)[1] was noted U.S. Army officer and OSS/CIA operative. Among other exploits, he was instrumental in the October 1963 coup against Ngo Dinh Diem, having served as the CIA's liaison officer with the coup plotters, and delivering $42,000 of the known cash disbursements.[2]
