Lucian Pye

Lucian W. Pye (Chinese name: Bái Lǔxún 白鲁恂, 1921— ) is Ford Professor of Political Science Emeritus at M.I.T., and the author of The Spirit of Chinese Politics: A Psychocultural Study of the Authority Crisis in Political Development.

Pye was born in China and later educated at Carleton College and Yale University..

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He has taught at Princeton, Yale, Washington University, the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy, Columbia, and was a Visiting Distinguished Professor at the Elliott School of International Affairs of George Washington University in 1993.

He served as President of the American Political Science Association in 1988-89.[1]
