Luis Oscar 'Lucho' González (born January 19, 1981 in Buenos Aires) is an Argentine football (soccer) player. He is a versatile midfielder being to play anywhere in midfield as well as at wing-back, but particularly centre midfield. He is well known for his fierce shot, crisp passing and hardworking style.

Called Lucho by fans, González played from the age of 14 for Huracán making his official Primera División Argentina debut on April 22, 1999. He would be transfered over to River Plate in 2002.
At River Plate, he was part of the 2004 Clausura championship winning team.

His performances at River Plate earned him a deal with FC Porto in 2005, which Porto shared the ownership with Global Soccer Agencies. Porto paid €3.6m to purchase half of the rights and signed a 5 year contract with Lucho.[1]
In Porto, He became team captain and attracted interest from clubs in major European leagues, such as Everton in the summer of 2007.[2]
In November 2006, he signed an improved contract that would last until 2011, and in August 2007, Porto paid €6.65m to Global Soccer Agencies to achieve full ownership of the player.[3]
Lucho is affectionately known by the Porto faithful as 'El Commandante' because of his excellent leadership skills and his commanding presence in the middle of the pitch.

Under the guidance of Argentine coach Marcelo Bielsa, Lucho Gonzalez made his first appearance with the "Albiceleste" on January 31, 2003 against Honduras. Lucho Gonzalez played for Argentina in the 2004 Copa America scoring two goals throughout the tournament and finishing in second place after losing to Brazil on penalty kicks in the final.
Gonzalez played with the Argentina national team that won the gold medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics. At the 2005 Confederations Cup held in Germany he along with Argentina earned a second place finish at the competition once again losing to Brazil in the final.
He played in the 2006 FIFA World Cup, in which Argentina under José Pekerman lost to hosts Germany in the quarter-finals on penalties.
Lucho Gonzalez was part of the Argentine national team managed by Alfio Basile at Copa América 2007. He played in various matches while also making an appearance in the final playing in the last remaining minutes against Brazil where Argentina lost by a score of 3-0. He has scored 5 goals in 34 international appearances as of 6 April 2008.
