Luca Zaia
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Luca Zaia (Conegliano, 27 March 1968) is an Italian Venetist politician. He is member of Liga Veneta-Lega Nord.
In 1997, when he was 29 years old, he was elected President of the Province of Treviso and was re-elected in 2002. In both cases he won only with the support of his party, as the other parties of the centre-right presented an alternative candidate.
In 2005, after the regional election, he was appointed Vice President of Veneto and regional minister of Agriculture in Galan III Government.
In May 2008 Zaia was appointed Minister of Agriculture in Berlusconi IV Cabinet, thus jumping at the national level. He was the first member of Liga Veneta to became minister in Rome.
Zaia is one the rising-stars of Lega Nord in Veneto and, though, the very leader of Liga Veneta, alongside other members of the young generation, such as Flavio Tosi (Mayor of Verona) and Federico Bricolo (floor leader in the Senate).
