Luca Castiglia (born 17 March 1989 in Ceva) is an Italian football midfielder who plays at Juventus. Having spent some of his formative years there in the Campionato Primavera (under-20 league format between all Serie A and Serie B teams), Claudio Ranieri decided to call him up to the senior side for the 2007-2008 season. He joined the Juventus youth set-up at the beginning of the 2005-2006 season from Torino and the Juventus under-20's won the youth title that year. Luca plays a central role in the midfield and looks to distribute forward as he is a good passer of the ball. Some have even compared him to Andrea Pirlo in the way that he controls the midfield. His first senior game came as a substitute on January 27th, 2008 when Juventus played Livorno in Serie A and won 3-1. He is considered one of the more promising stars from the Juventus youth system along with the likes of Sebastian Giovinco and Paolo De Ceglie who are out on loan at Empoli F.C. and AC Siena respectively.
