The Deputy Director of Operations for the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), Luc Portelance took the position in 2007, replacing Jack Hooper, who did not get along with Director Jim Judd.[1]

Appearing at the first press conference regarding the 2006 Toronto terrorism case[2], Portelance was later quoted as stating "Terrorism is a dangerous ideology and a global phenomenon...Canada is not immune from this ideology."[3]
