Luagalau Levaula Kamu died 16 July 1999. Lawyer and Former Minister of Public Works of Samoa whose assassination shocked the Samoan and Pacific Islands community.
- Luagalau Levaula Kamu trained as a lawyer in New Zealand at Victoria and Auckland Universities. He was a chairman of the Samoan Advisory Council in New Zealand and had practised law in Samoa before entering parliament.
- He was killed during a social function celebrating the 20th anniversary of the ruling Human Rights Protection Party. His assassin was a 34 year old man, Eletise Leafa Vitale, the son of Leafa Vitale who was the previous Minister of Public Works, who was sacked from that position last November by the then new Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi, following a scandal involving accusations of embezzlement of public funds. Involved in the plot was former Minister of Post and Telecommunications Toi Aukuso.
