Lu Wushuang

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lu Wushuang (陸無雙) is a fictional character in Jinyong's wuxia novel The Return of the Condor Heroes. She is best known for being kidnapped by mortal enemy Li Mochou (李莫愁), forced to become her disciple, and for her romantic attachment to the novel's main male protagonist Yang Guo (楊過), which was unfulfilled because of Yang's unwavering commitment to Xiaolongnü (小龍女).

Lu's family was massacred by Li Mochou, as Li sought revenge against a reneged promise of marriage. She escaped from Li after serving as her disciple, and during her travels met Yang Guo, and was attracted to Yang's carefree nature, especially after several close-encounters against their enemies.

Lu also has a cousin, Cheng Ying (程英), who is a young disciple of Huang Yaoshi (黃藥師). Lu and Cheng would accompany Yang Guo and Xiaolongnü in their fateful journey to the Passionless Valley (絕情谷); and they served to console a mournful Yang after the disappearance of Xiaolongnü.

Both cousins would reappear 16 years later to assist Huang Rong in her search for her daughter Guo Xiang. Lu Wushang was injured prior to the final siege on Xiang Yong.
