Luís Filipe Ângelo Rodrigues Fernandes, commonly known as Luís Filipe (born June 14, 1979, in Cantanhede), is a Portuguese footballer for SL Benfica. He plays as a defender or a midfielder, always on the right side. He has also played for Sporting Clube de Portugal, and had an abroad stint with La Liga's Atlético Madrid, spent with their B team. Not blessed with many technical skills or speed, he compensates with great hustle.

Luís Filipe started as a right-winger, blossoming as a player with Sporting Braga, which led to a 2001 transfer to Sporting Lisbon. Opportunities were scarce, and he subsequently reconverted to right-back, in the molds of international Miguel, upon his loan with União Leiria and following return to Braga.

In the beginning of August 2007 he signed a four-year deal with Benfica,[1]with also right-back João Pereira going the other way.
